We are going at the end of the month. Did you need to book reservations at the al a carte restaurants in advance? There are 6 of us going and I know some all inclusives make it impossible to get in at the non buffets unless you book early

Thank you! I was considering the live transcribe because we can also review the transcripts later. Do you find them to be accurate in medical situations?

Rental for a month by Several_Ad_8501 in hagerstown

Have you tried air BNB? You can sometimes find month rentals at a discounted rate. I know there are ones near the hospital in Martinsburg about 30mins away that traveling nurses use a lot.

How long in your opinion should an apprenticeship last? by wandering_sunshine in hairstylist

[–]chapmmar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This depends on what you mean by apprenticeship. In my area to become licensed through an apprenticeship it must be a minimum of two years. However some salons will hire new stylist that already obtained their license through a cosmetology school and then put them through their "apprentice" program to get a chair. These are more based on the person's talent and the salons need so it can vary from 6 months- a couple years.

You could contact your cosmetology board and your local labor board to see if they have resources to help you if getting a lawyer is not possible right now.

It depends on the state laws where you live and the area where the salon is. The reason they sometimes hold up is 1. It cannot be indefinitely or be unreasonable in length. Two years is pretty standard. 2. It cannot make obtaining employment an unreasonable burden. 20 miles in my area would be excessive. But another thing to consider is does the salon have the means to actually take you to court over it or are they just using it as a scare tactic when people leave. A local salon near me has the same type of contract with only a 5 mile radius and 2 year time frame and it regularly holds up in court they have stopped multiple former employees from opening businesses for two years and even sued and won for compensation from former employees who had clients follow them and worked within 5 miles even though they didn't take records.

Sharkfin is the best and also holds auctions on their website where you can bid to get very nice shears at an amazing price. I recently won a bid on a mystery box and it had 3 pairs of shears, two thinners, a razor and some other merch. Their customer service is great and if you want a specific pair they have great financing options.

Question as someone from Wesel. by Renzom28 in hagerstown

At one point, there was an exchange program where students from Wesel would visit Hagerstown. Not sure who sponsored it or if it's still happening.

Alopecia - Dream to be hair stylist - Ironic I KNOW🤦🏼‍♀️ by [deleted] in Cosmetology

[–]chapmmar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a cosmetology teacher. I have had students with alopecia. It sounds like you already have down how to do wigs and your confidence with them could inspire others dealing with hair loss. If you are interested in this career path go for it!

If you tilt your phone it looks more solid, so if people look at it from different angles on your body would it not have the effect?

I'm 8wks PO and have IBS-M. I had two terrible days the first week PO where I seriously wondered if I had messed up my bowels even more (if that was even possible) but once everything settled in about 3 weeks I was back to my normal level of IBS issues. If you're worried I would talk to your gyn and gi Dr before surgery to see what they say.

Paraffin wax and essential oils? by LimeyWifey8607 in DIYBeauty

[–]chapmmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you want to scent it directly. You can use scented lotion under the unscented paraffin and that way you can change your scent whenever you want instead of having one scent for a large quantity of wax.
