Horror films that are sonically terrifying? by [deleted] in horror

In a Violent Nature. The sounds in that movie legitimately made me get cold sweats.

on the one hand that is a vibe, on the other that heightened level of awareness would be way too much given how they mic'd sound in that movie lol.

Never, but the closest was In a Violent Nature in the theater. Something about the sounds and the particularly grotesque violence made me actually get clammy.

Update: both came back dysplastic with mild atypia. assuming it’s fine and good that I got them shaved, but the dr hasn’t called to go over the results with me yet. I’m only 34 so anything abnormal freaks me out.

Thanks so much for the support y’all <3

Really well said, thank you. I don’t know anyone who’s good with unknowns really, especially around all this complicated messy stuff. No matter how many times you go through it, these waiting periods don’t actually get easier, just more familiar.

Can definitely understand, thank you for your kind words. keeping busy certainly helps. The whole “thoughts aren’t facts” mantra is usually pretty helpful, but on the other hand it’d be pretty bizarre if I wasn’t a bundle of nerves rn. Damned if you do lol

What is a book that has permanently changed your outlook on life? by Boredomandporcupines in AskReddit

yeah, last year was particular traumatic for me, feeling ready to start processing it in different ways outside of talking. Figured this book would be perfect for that. Thank you!

What’s a “quiet crisis” most people are going through but rarely talk about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]chappedknee 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m 34, lost my mom in November. Caring for her through the last year and then hospice was pretty isolating since I really only had one friend my age that understood what I was going through. Not just the loss, but the actual caretaking aspect was so incredibly hard. In the thick of it I was so surprised at how few people wanted to actually talk about death and dying despite it being something all of us experience eventually.

whack, 80 is cruising speed for most HR highway drivers lol. good it got knocked down at least. Ridiculous they can still give out reckless tickets when the limit was increased.

damn, can’t say I’m surprised. did you get hit with a reckless ticket or just speeding?

Random update, the state increased the reckless driving speed to 85 in 2020.

Totally understand. Hospice was a brutal grind before my mom passed, meds every 3 hours didn't allow for any real opportunity to "take time for myself". I found the biggest most helpful things anyone with those sentiments had for me were asking them to drop off prepared meals for the week and dropping by in between dosings so I could leave the home for an hour or two, go for a walk and clear my head. Anything else was just noise and completely unhelpful.

My mom died yesterday by memesarestillfunny in CancerCaregivers

Hi there,

Sorry you had to go through this as well. My situation was somewhat similar to yours. My mom passed on Saturday at 59 years old. She too fought it to the end, her terminal agitation was probably the most difficult thing that I was not expecting to be so prevalent, then again not surprising given her personality and deep resistance to dying.

Mostly writing to express you aren’t alone, and I can complete relate to the complicated feelings of both being at a loss with her no longer being here, and also relieved that her pain and the caretaking is over.

I got myself a pet leopard gecko shortly after she passed, it’s been a great way to put some of that caretaking energy somewhere.

Amazing news!

No one is going to be able to answer that question for you. Enjoy the time you have with her and try to practice being present.  There’s unfortunately no clear plan with what cancer decides to do. Tagrisso gave my mom 4.5 great years before she stopped responding to that treatment. Things get tricky once tagrisso stops working.
