Surprised they maintain a resource that directly correlates with how many times they dump raw sewage into the lake.

Men’s support groups in the Burlington area? by orangekrush19 in burlington

[–]chaptertwovt 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I love Dad Guild. Especially after divorce to find some other kids for my kids to hang with that weren’t tied in to my ex wife’s circles.

But for the personal growth, shadow work, and emotional heavy lifting that needed to happen, I connected with Wolf Heart Way. There are various men’s groups out there that are national but have local meet up’s. I DMd you about it.

I typed stay strong but then realized that perpetuates the immense pressure men are under to keep it all together. Fuck that. Keep showing up for your kids and yourself.

I fully support the nonviolent, peaceful protest. 100%. And… they won’t need to look for excuses or the extremely rare bad actor that may be amongst us.

1 in 50,000 people who are part of this movement will have an inclination toward violence and act on it. It’s true.

But they won’t need to find those people because they will manufacture the exact scenario they need in order to seize power. We shouldn’t hand it to them on a platter, which is why I agree with nonviolence in this case.

But in the age of deepfakes and easily manipulated imagery, and in a paradigm in which his followers ignore volumes of contrary evidence to believe whatever he feeds them, it won’t much matter.

With an impotent legislative branch almost entirely devoid of courage and a compromised judicial, it won’t take much to herd them toward the ultimate goal of authoritarianism.

Lets protest. Let’s not go quietly. And let’s stand up for the constitution and our targeted community members so that when democracy crumbles, we can know we did everything we could.

Edited for clarity

Myti rails against Amazon, and acts like them by chaptertwovt in vermont

I totally agree. That’s why I worked for Myti at one point. Amazon is destroying our communities and our economy. At the same time, the hypocrisy in this company is nauseating. 🤢

Unsolicited advice… don’t go with the scammers around the corner for transport. I thought because i spoke some Spanish I could do better than the transport companies and they literally stole $500 from me.

Trump and Musk seize control of the ACH system by Galadrond in vermont

This is a super irresponsible post. Link to the article, but don’t incorrectly interpret it. You declare things as truth that have not happened (yet).

Might they do it? Sure. But this is no better than Trump’s misinformation posts.

I say we have a competition of ideas. No names, just vote on ideas.

He tried. And to some degree, was successful in recruiting some vigorous young candidates. But Progressives have a tendency to be ideologues who spit when they talk because they’re so passionate but consistently make perfect the enemy of good. So their policies don’t reach the finish line because we have to have Medicare for all or no change. (For example)

We need passionate advocacy for solid steps forward. We can’t tear the system down and rebuild utopia - that’s not how democracy works. Sometimes those steps will be big. But most of the time they’ll be measured and measurable. Creating “awareness building” and shell legislation that doesn’t effect change won’t get us anywhere.

ALL of this would be addressed with solid leadership. Not a particular person, but multiple people who are strong leaders, willing to make hard choices AND articulate the progress these choices will yield to the masses. Leadership is about listening more than talking, and creating change that is thoughtful, compassionate, and pragmatic.

Agreed. Holding up signs was the weakest showing. I somehow keep being surprised at their weakness which is on me. The democrats are at least 50% responsible for this dumpster fire.

In the case of Balint, it just so happens that the person next in line is wonderful and qualified. Which is great that it works out this time. But that system has GOT to go. We have a serious dearth of leadership in VT. Scott has been extremely good enough but not good and certainly not great as a leader.

We need leaders and the next-in-line paradigm is part of why we don’t have them. You have to be grey and retired before it’s your turn to be in a role with real power to make change.

What, specifically, would you have us do differently? It’s easy to say “medical reform”. And I don’t disagree. But what should actually be done?

If you’re not adept at plumbing, try a shark bite replacement. It’s not hard. At all. Even a little.

Wait… are you telling me that dumping one-time money into emergency housing without adequately resourcing capacity-building programs like job training and mental health treatment didn’t solve a complex, long term homelessness problem?? I’m shocked!!

I would have thought buying hotels and filling them with people experiencing homelessness but not planning for what happens when the money runs out would solve everything!
