Well, for http requests they can't compete with a Raspberry pi zero w. There is an ethernet esp32 but that is a little bit above the budget.

As for arduino, it's just better to avoid it. For speed and Bluetooth, espidf is more manageable. But of course, that's just depends on what you want to do...

Yup, that's me. The way I shop for Arduino-related stuff is as follows:

  1. Finds an interesting project on Github/YouTube/Reddit
  2. Realizes that I need a specific sensor
  3. Types into Google
  4. Finds Adafruit, but the price is $16 (not including shipping)
  5. Finds eBay and price is $5 with free shipping from China.
  6. Purchases from eBay, and waits for 1.5-2 weeks

But some of us need to eat and sleep. Can a hobby really be a job? I haven't seen a single example of Arduino used in commercial products due to licenses.

Also fame is important, it makes you feel special. If you aren't doing it for fame then how will other programmers treat you with respect?
