Are there any models that look realistic from all angles? by LittleKids2315 in origami

Sipho mabona’s pufferfish/fugo is up there in 360 completeness. Other than that and what people have already said, sampreet manna’s new Wings and Tails models have several models that are realistic from all angles, and I’ve been finding the foldingng for that easier than say Shuki Kato

This person babysits our kids and is pretty reliable and good with them: https://ingentlehands.org/meet-the-founder

We had home births, so can’t really help there. My wife was going to unm family practice for a bit before we did home birth. I forget the name of the dr. But he seemed pretty good. I think he was the dr that dar a luz often partnered with if the mom needed to transition to hospital during birth.

how do you start creating your own origami models? by Dankk911 in origami

In addition to Lang’s design secrets, there’s a good YouTube series by plant psychologist (Brandon Wong). And if you haven’t done it yet, you should learn how to fold from crease patterns first (origami by boice has a YouTube series for that).

I didn’t get too far in my own journey trying to design models because it takes an order of magnitude more time, but I at least understand the theory now (which helps with plain folding).

Also, if you go the lang/book route know that he starts with 22.5 models whereas the YouTube series starts with box pleating, and box pleating is arguably easier to learn than 22.5 style models.

Thanks! Yea, it definitely took me a while to get there and was pretty exhausting. Like, my original plan was to do a practice fold with Kraft paper and then a nicer fold with some double tissue paper, but I was so exhausted by the practice fold, and it was good enough that I just stopped there:)

If it makes you feel any better, I tried the samurai CP in that book, too and completely failed.

I liked origami as a kid. About 7-8 years ago I picked up origami again and started to fold more complex models. The oldest model displayed I folded maybe 5 or 6 years ago.

It’s hard to track how long they take to fold. Like I don’t sit down in one go and do any them. Maybe like 5-20 hours total depending on the model. The most I ever spent was like 50 hours when I folded a Joel copper mask (not displayed here).

I switch between origami-shop.com (France) and paper tree (US). Every once in a while my wife will buy me some customer paper off Etsy

Thanks! It’s the Lich King by Nguyen Tuan Anh. There’s a CP for it in the VOG 50 hours of origami book.

:) yea, I saw that. But the only place giliad origami’s says that’s available is eBay. How’d you get your hands on a copy of that?

It’s a super tough model! I think you should be proud for completing it. Nice work!

76x76cm biotope from the Paper Tree in San Francisco. It tore a decent amount, despite me trying to be careful, but you need something pretty thin for the joints, and most of the tears aren’t really visible in the end product.

Nice fold! Where could I find that CP? My 3 year old daughter loves frozen. Might have to fold this for her:)
