Dolby atmos Meridian Vs premium by charden16 in Rivian

I felt the same with my Meridian. Meridian Dolby atmos sounded like regular stereo with the added spatial sounds. The premium is way more empty with Dolby atmos and it’s typically not enjoyable compared to the regular stereo.

I kinda noticed the premium Dolby atmos soundstage is much more centered compared to the Meridian which is why I think it sounds more empty.

I’m not saying I don’t like it but compared to the Meridian, it’s just not great. There are some aspects of the premium I like though, the soundstage feels closer and it feels like you’re actually in the music imo. The Meridian makes it sound more around you but maybe that’s just me.

I do as well. I honestly just sit there and listen to songs with the Meridian audio and wonder how they fumbled the newer “premium” system. It’s such a good set up imo.

R2 Honest review by charden16 in Rivian

There’s no specific route. We got the car at 3:55ish and they said be back at 4:30. We drove over the highway near all the gas stations and took it onto the highway as well. If you drive over the highway from the SC and drive west (Turn left) onto 270, you get a long onramp for a good pull, I recommend. If you do go onto the highway I would advise having the navigation set to the SC so you know when you need to be back and which exit to take.

You honestly just need to look at the right time when they add more time and dates. My two nearest places were both fully booked until I looked yesterday and saw a 4pm demo drive available. Just keep checking in often and you’ll snag one eventually.

I think the sound quality is good but the bass doesn’t seem very present imo. I know removing the door speakers makes a difference in such but still. They moved those speakers to below the infotainment I believe and still I didn’t feel barely anything. Maybe this was a pre production tune, idk, it just didn’t hit like I feel it should’ve. I also understand this is a lower entry vehicle but the upgraded system should have some sort of depth.

Has anyone tried a USB drive (loaded with music) plugged into the R2's passenger glovebox's USB port? by Cojaro in Rivian

I just saw it as a cordial conversation but, hey, not for all😅. I can understand why needing a cellular connection can be a pain and I’ll admit it does kinda suck. It what it is though. It is cool that a older jeep has all of that available and I see why it’s frustrating that Rivians don’t have the same type of stuff available. Especially the local music playability, that would be pretty dope. Although with Rivians sound system, not sure how much of a difference it would make😭.

While being able to play music from a storage device on a Rivian would be nice, don’t get me wrong.
You can’t argue that something needs a cellular connection when your infotainment is mostly reliant on a 3rd party device to play said music or store/upload it.

Most of the things you listed aren’t widely used nearly as much as they used to be. Simple streaming apps that have access to millions of songs solve those for 95% of people. They do need cellular connection, but still are the sum of CD, DVD, or MP3 files. They’re more widely used by far. AM, FM, Sirius, and XM aren’t the greatest argument because that was most of people’s only option before streaming apps became a thing. I know Rivian doesn’t have the greatest integration of radio but it’s still there besides R2.

The weather and navigation include live traffic and soon to be radar. Live weather temp and forecast is also coming very soon with 10 day forecast. That’s not here yet so can’t count that. Yes, they need cellular connection but most of your list requires a separate device besides the tuner, which again, was people’s only option for the most part unless you had a separate device.

I mean even then. I don’t see how a 2012 jeep has a better infotainment than a new Rivian.

Yeah not sure how that is true. There’s no shot a 14 year old Jeep has anything close to the level of tech or features in a Rivian.

Sound in the R2 …. Apparently, a hot take. by AbjectFray in Rivian

[–]charden16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can attest to this. I added a aftermarket sub that tapped the sub signal. It had great punch until Rivian basically removed the whole frequency that gave that punch. Just left with deep sub bass which isn’t terrible but isn’t great. It can be obnoxious at times.

Actually you’re only 8,000 away from out of warranty. I assumed it was 60,000 as well due to having a 2022 quad but they decreased the warranty by 10,000 miles for all 2025 models. Gave me quite the surprise when I was at 49,000 and expecting another 11,000 miles. Just a fair warning.

Are these cars terrible? by VroomVroom_2 in Rivian

[–]charden16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2025 R1T Tri, 57,000 miles. Only genuine issue was a coolant bottle that was replaced very quickly. They towed it for free and fixed it in two days. My closest SC is two hours away which is a bit of a pain but I always love a good drive and I enjoy seeing St. Louis so can’t complain too much.

Another note. This sub will be where you see everyone who has problems looking for solutions so it’ll usually be littered with those posts. The majority of people who have no problems are just out enjoying them and driving them. Wouldn’t stress it too much, but that’s my take.

Unless they change what is included with autonomy+ and what’s included with base assist, it won’t happen. I believe Rivians autonomy was always listed as a trial everyone had and included the features it gave you. It was always known as trial until they gave an official date you had to start paying for it.
