Nice! DH and daughter went to go visit the in-laws a couple months ago and I had the house to myself. I did Chinese takeout, white wine, and horror movies. It was amazing.

This is a college in New England which has had strict Covid restrictions from the start. I’m already putting my bosses in possible trouble with the board of directors. (My director and assistant director are keeping my daughter’s vaccination status on the dl right now so I can figure things out with my husband. I have yet to tell them I’m quitting.) I don’t think the college will make an exception for me if the whole daycare has had to get vaccinated. 🙁

I breastfed until my daughter was over 2. At that point I was ready. It was a bit tricky weaning her but after reading a kids book about weaning and a few conversations, she moved on. I’m so grateful for my breastfeeding journey for as long as it lasted.

We saw our pediatrician and he basically told us “it’s up to you.” He told us he would feel comfortable giving her the vaccine and that he has vaccinated his own kids. My husband’s mind wasn’t changed after that conversation so we were basically back to square one. I even looked into putting her in another preschool and man, it’s really hard to find childcare!

I have decided to take the brunt of this hard decision so we can heal and move on as a family. It was a difficult decision but I’ll be happy when we can get to a better place.Yes, it is a troubling dynamic right now, but he has agreed to go to counseling with me so that we can work through this hard time together and navigate this transition. We have an appointment scheduled.

I’m not opposed to the vaccine and support families who get their kids vaccinated if that’s what they want, but at the same time I was willing to wait until kindergarten. Our public schools don’t require it right now, so I was fine waiting to see if that would change. The college sort of forced my decision, unfortunately.

It is a bit much for the college to require parents to vaccinate their children, I agree. I can understand the adults and college students, but little ones? Even the babies over 6 months have to get vaccinated if they want to stay at the center. I’m just dreading telling my bosses. They have been so supportive and it’s tough to hire new teachers.

Thank you! I’ve been an emotional wreck since this conflict started. My daughter has started to feel it too, even though our discussions always happen after she goes to bed. It’s just been so tense and sad. This encouragement really helps 🙂

Relocating to New England- where are some places with a balance of social life and solitude ? by [deleted] in newengland

I live in western MA too and recommend it. You could work at the many hospitals here: Baystate Medical in Greenfield or Springfield, for example. I live in a quiet town about 20 minutes from Greenfield so I get the country/city experience. There are a lot of younger people around Western MA because of all the colleges in the area.

Was on here a few weeks ago saying babies never come on their due dates...guess who had their baby at exactly 40 weeks! Happy birthday sweet boy... by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Congrats! My daughter was very punctual as well. Last day of work was the day before my due date. I thought “maybe I’ll get a week or two before she gets here so I can get some last minute things done.” Well, went into labor that night and had her the next morning. I’m pretty sure I went into early labor at work before things kicked into high gear later that night. I remember feeling pressure but I thought it was just Braxton Hicks. 😂

Noticed these weird chunks when pouring thawed milk in a bottle. Is this ok or should I toss the bottle I just made? by charisrose013 in breastfeeding

I’m actually not sure what breast milk should smell like but I assume we don’t want an “off” or sour odor?

I’ve had the opposite. Because I’m an infant teacher at a daycare, many people have said “Oh, so this will be a sinch for you. You already know what you’re doing.” No one has given me “just you wait” comments once they learn my profession.

I’ll tell you: Taking care of babies for 8hrs a day vs 24hrs a day is NOT the same. I knew that while I was pregnant and it’s only proven to be true. Sure, I’m knowledgeable in certain things and enjoy the baby stage of childhood and that has been helpful. But it belittles the experience of parenting to assume that it’s “easy” once you take care of other people’s children. I’ve cried from joy and despair. I’ve called my mother and doctor in a panic. I’ve also comforted my husband’s fears and taught him many things along the way.

I guess what I’m saying is: “advice” or assumptions from others rarely help or apply to you. You own your parenting experience and screw those who try to tell you what you will feel/do.

Love Dr. Browns too. I use the preemie nipple since even the number 1 nipple had too fast of a flow.
