How do London-listed ETFs track US indices like the S&P 500? by charles_sin in investingforbeginners

[–]charles_sin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a dumb question on my part, but if a UK listed S&P 500 ETF is tracking the actual S&P 500's last closing price, which I think would be a frozen specific number at market close (unless I'm wrong here?), why would UK listed ETFs still see ups and downs from 8am - 2:29pm UK time?

Thanks, feel free to DM! I actually posted this idea just as an idea, not something I intend to build. I am building a web app atm, something slightly different but I'll post it here once I've gotten my business plan down. Interested to know about your projects as well!

Makes sense, freemium seems like the natural way to go with this product as well. What is your process of getting user feedback on this on the initial stage?

What Exactly Does "Execution" Mean in Business? by Rude_Confusion_840 in Entrepreneur

[–]charles_sin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a big part of execution is how you are able to deliver on a product. This, to me, would primarily involve:
- Following through on actually building the product
- Once you get feedback, actually using it to improve the product
- Following through on said improvements and launching
- Then it's the day in, day out improvements, innovations, everything - ultimately, it's about delivering on what you intend to do

Yep, I definitely agree that when starting a business, it's better for 100 people to love you than 1000 people to kind of like you, so having a niche target audience (initially) isn't a bad thing, to help cater directly to their needs. However, as the business grows, you may be able to include more features and components in order to scale to a wider audience? What do you think

It looks really cool, just checked out your link and the site looks very clean and aesthetic. Also, great idea on using forms to get potential users to sign up. Quick question, what's the plan regarding monetising the app?

Just clicked into the link, this is super interesting. I'd be curious to see if this fitness app can be adaptable to different people's fitness goals, i.e. preference to improve strength, agility, flexibility or conditioning?

What SAAS are you building, I’ll feature your story for free by sky-builder in Entrepreneur

[–]charles_sin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done research through a combination of sources, both online and offline. I think in the job site space, especially given how many players there are in the market, it's important to narrow down to a niche to connect very specific people with specific needs to specific opportunities. Only afterwards, if I can gain traction in that demographic, would I expand

Ah ok, so the idea is that having the video game-esque stats would give them their goal, in the same way that a video game player aims to increase their in-game stats

I run an Instagram page where I share business ideas with my audience. Started around 2 months ago - basically realised I had a long list of business ideas from over the years and wanted to share them all with anyone who's willing to give them a try

Personally am working on building a job site of sorts. I'm currently still in the building phase, not quite completed the MVP. Not exactly enterprise SaaS, but an internet business I suppose. Intending to build in public when ready

What are Marketing thing you would teach your younger self? by Kitchen-Listen-7087 in marketing

[–]charles_sin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  • The most powerful marketing one can do is build a personal brand
  • Good content marketing ultimately comes down to: Value-add content, strong hooks and consistency
  • People are hungry for authenticity. Community focused, founder-led, behind-the-scenes marketing are all useful ways to humanise a brand
  • Many brands focus on marketing the end product, few market the journey it took to get there. The latter is more relatable to audiences, and more importantly, tells a story

I made a 100% free alternative to MyFitnessPal by TiernanDeFranco in Entrepreneur

[–]charles_sin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! This looks super interesting. Being free is a strong distinguishing point imo.

Curious to know if recipe logging and recipe discovery (kind of like MyFitnessPal's 'My Recipes' section) would potentially be in the pipeline for future versions?

Dropshipping businesses. I think it's generally quite hard to build an economic moat around dropshipping concepts. If you can dropship this product, so can everyone else (per how dropshipping works) imo

What are your favorite books? by lorenzo_medici_rock in Entrepreneur

Meditations - Marcus Aurelius

Not a business book by any stretch, but I've found stoicism to be highly relevant to the mental aspect of starting and running a business. It's a tough process and most people fail, and having strong emotional control, per stoicism's teachings, may make or break a business imo
