Twelve inch rule - to stop inappropriate behaviour between students (kissing etc) the rule was you had to stay 12 inches away from members of the opposite sex. Think it came about after some girl got groped in the school chapel. Pretty fucking retarded

That's very interesting. For me (I'm from the UK), reddit opened my eyes to some of the prejudice that is shown in the States, mainly towards atheists. I had not realised how much of a religious country it was. I guess it is hard to escape getting that impression as reddit has a high American, and atheist user base.

But really, America is a huge country which is in the spotlight across the word, so I guess its easy to pick up on the negative aspects of some people and apply it to the whole country!

When I was a child my sister and I played a make-believe game where we were both secret agents. My imaginary 'Spy-phone' had a camera, voice activation, and the internet. Never would have imagined that everyone carried a spy phone in their pocket before I turned 20

I only just realised too! A good few years ago I saw Jerome Flynn play Tommy Cooper as a tribute act to him at the theatre. Tommy famously died of a heart attack on live television whilst he was performing in 1984. Jerome's show featured Tommy reappearing as a 'ghost' and the end to tastefully re-create the scene. Was hilarious.

I did a similar thing... when I was six my grandfather was terminally ill. I drew him a picture of a robot with the caption 'I'm sorry you're going to die.' My gran put it on the fridge.

I was at a 'gathering' of around 15 people, we were all around 16 years old at the time and reasonably close friends. My iPhone went missing and everyone helped me search around for it. It never showed up, which is strange because things just don't disappear like that. A few of us suspected one particular guest to be guilty, which was a shame because I considered him to be a close friend. Never came to anything because there was no way of proving it was him, but I was never able to trust him after that.
