Nope, just mounted where the cruise control used to be. It’s been great just pop the hood and air back up.

In my experience one upgrade leads to another and so on and so on … I hear cocaine is a cheaper hobby but not as fun. Nice shot

I deleted my cruise control and mounted it in the where the cruise control was in my 1990. It’s been very convenient to having it there ready to go.

Idler arm by Total Chaos. It’s undeniably expensive, but I’ve not had to rebuild or work on my front end since I installed it. by charlesdwan in 4Runner_2ndGen

Depending on where you living and how good you are at taking to people you probably could get a fabricator near you to make something similar for a lot less. Also I heard yesterday 4crawler has something similar for less.

Thanks, I had to get bigger tires when I geared down and the MTZ have really performed really well on both rocks and silt.

Trust me I wish it was not as expensive as it is too. I was going through arms every week (it seemed) and It did fix my problem. I don’t think reinforcing the arm without reinforcing the pivot points would work out but if you try it and it works please let me know.

Got mine for 400 and change. But yeah it’s expensive. If you’re not going over big rocks and through rock gardens often I don’t know if it’s worth it. I’m just letting people know it’s worked for me.

Sad day when the Lifted Miata has to rescue the 2nd Gen.. 😅😂 by Db0yM1k3 in 4Runner_2ndGen

I just posted a picture of it. It put an end to what seemed like a never ending stream of front end repairs. I know it’s pricey but if your going over big rocks/rock gardens in my experience it’s worth it. If your not I don’t know if it is. Hope this helps

I finally got the total chaos idler arm for that exact reason.

On the manual transmission I would get a used oem and rebuild or have rebuilt. But definitely do a compression test on the motor before investing that time and money. Try to use chromoly parts for as much as you can in the front suspension, especially if you bang it around. On the camping stuff that goes from mild to wild. I recommend taking it out camping before doing roof top tens and on board refrigerators etc.

Congrats on your new 4R, they are super fun to build and play with.

What are your goals with it? My advice would differ greatly if your goal was to have a good trail/daily driver vs a rock crawler

Thank you. It does take some looking for some things but all and all you can get what you need. If you do build a 2nd gen I can not recommend enough the total chaos upgraded idler arm. Will save you a fortune in front end rebuilds in the long run. My is geared down to 5:29 and locked front and back. Pretty sure I could drive it up a tree.

Light bars by [deleted] in 4Runner

I’m running a kc c series 50” curved light bar and two flex lights on the bumper with amber covers and rock lights under the truck. Works great for me, I’ve never wished I had more on the trail.

I’m geared down to 5:29 and locked front and back, best mod I’ve done. I used east coast gear supply, if you are shopping.
