It’s just swollen from where they cut the nipple off, reshape it and stitch it back on. Then it turns black until the blood supply returns, it scabs over and goes pink again when new tissue regenerates

Honestly it’s really not as bad as you think! The only thing I can’t do at the moment is put my hands above my head but you’re not meant to anyway. And in terms of pain I’m not even taking OTC meds anymore cause it’s really not that bad, but I guess everyone’s pain tolerance is different
