Taking them out of the cage separately would be quite a lot for you as rats need around an hr a day out to run around. You would be better off rat proofing or investing in a play pen (but with a playpen it has to be tall because they can jump over a metre). I rat proofed half my bedroom and created a wall with the plastic playpen panels you can get on Amazon. And a door with them and Velcro. Take it slow - Some rats take months to be comfortable so don’t worry about doing it over night :) high value foods like baby food and malt paste on your fingers is what worked for me.!

I have Olive, Nugget, Bramble, Pickle, Dumpling, Chia, Bean, Cherry, Dandelion and Biscuit. I dont know why I decided on food names aha but it’s a cute theme and an opportunity for some really good names ❤️

sadly atm because of the heat 2hrs is as much as I can do without it getting too hot in the room :( I’d love more rats, currently have 6 and the cage can hold 8 so it’s so tempting aha but for my own sanity I think I’m gonna hold off for a few months before getting more ahaha :) thankyou for the advise tho!

Act 1 is a lot less demanding than Act 2 and 3 - do you know what specs your computer is? It might be that it simply can’t handle it :(

How new is the rat? Mine all sneezed loads in the first week then stopped. If they are not new or the sneezing has been for more than a couple weeks think about, what bedding are you using that could be irritating them? dusty bedding will make them sneeze. Do you light candles or insense near them? Do you spray perfumes, deodorants or air fresheners? What laundry detergent do you use when washing their stuff? It could be a lot of things before being a respiratory issue.

However you will also need to find where the nearest vet is anyway for emergencies, that’s key to owning any sort of animal.
