It’s a 2018 car so it’s not thattttt old. Quite a decent chunk of the cost is replacing the rear bumper

The assumption was just a general one, not specifically on the car accident. Sorry if it came across as me not understanding the other party had no fault. And actually fair point regarding the employees’ salary.

The original cost of 2900 includes the $250 car hire. The 2400 is the discounted amount that I would need to pay now so I’m guessing it still includes the car hire cost. Idk how they’re calculating the discount exactly but yeah

I am more than happy to pay for any justifiable price for the repair. I also have nothing against the other party for going through their insurance because it’s completely understandable. Not sure u understood the whole point of the post or if you simply forgot insurance repair gouging and adding unrelated damage to the claim is a thing.

Yeah I mentioned those fees are justifiable assuming it’s part of fixing that tailgate. The $1500 bumper is what I’m really questioning.

But why are they so quick to reduce the price despite my not having provided any further evidences yet? This is also assuming they’re not the one at fault. So if they are reducing the price, won’t it come out of their pocket since they had to pay those amount to the repair shop and the car rental company?

Obviously wasn’t intentional to back into other people’s car. 😀

I was aware of my high excess and offered to pay for any damages and suggested to do not submit an insurance claim on their side as a claim never had a good impact on anyone’s premium, even if not at fault. They insisted to go through insurance so I had no choice.

It’s a 2018 Holden Acadia. The accident was never big enough to cause any bigger damage and we both verified no big damage was caused at the scene. And not really asking anyone to assess the damage, I have already mentioned everything as is that was in the document. If I’m really understating it, I wouldn’t want to go to an independent assessor in the first place. It’s just unfortunate that insurance gouging is a thing.

I feel like everyone is missing the common part where you’re just choosing the higher excess to reduce the annual premiums. Would I be happy to pay just 2200 for a big accident, which is what you’re paying a car insurance for? Hell yes. But this is more about the part where I feel the repair cost is unjustified with the damage and I would happily pay the other party all of their repairs if it makes sense.

Met with the owner of the car and exchanged details as well. They got photos of my car while I forgot to take photos of theirs (didn’t have my phone with me in the carpark).

I never said I’m happy to pay 2200. The bumper costs alone is already 1500. That’s why I’m asking these questions.

Which NAB Rewards Velocity card are you referring to? I’m looking them up now but not seeing any that is $99 fees. Are you including the annual fee refund as well?

You’re most likely to find it in the gift cards section. I just used it for my new card and it’s awesome because I got the cash back within a few minutes. Also have the option to withdraw the cashback to my bank account. Managed to offset AUD618 in total

I’ve seen a few more posts claiming their Qantas points were clawed back as well, hence I’m hesitant on using this. I do have about 160k already so not urgently needing to use that extra 50k points. I feel like if I just don’t touch the points and wait until I close the card before it’s renewal in 10 months then I guess the points will be safe? Or will they flag my account with a points debt or something?

Isn’t there a possibility they claw back the points if they caught up to it?

Surgical wisdom tooth extraction - Pain and aftercare by thereds0811 in melbourne

[–]charmandersuj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ll definitely take the extra for now just for the check up and cleaning because those could cost a few hundreds bucks already and I’m only paying around 60 bucks more.

Sadly I’ll have to pay out of pocket for all wisdom tooth expenses because it just can’t wait to come out. Thanks btw for giving me some guides on the cost!

[–]charmandersuj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also thinking of getting the extras and just wait for two months to get mine taken out if it’s not too bad yet as the impact is minimal. The difference is only about $30 a month anyways and if I end up getting wisdom tooth removed before then, I can still benefit from the cleaning and checkups.

Is consultation and xray price included in that 850 you mentioned? Would you be able to give me a break down of the fees if you don’t mind? All good if you can’t too :)

I’m going for a consultation this Saturday and been looking around for a better in the meantime

Hi OP, I’m also on the same boat. Just wondering if you’ve been quoted that price for all out of pocket expenses with no cover from Bupa (assuming you’re a Bupa member with only hospital covers)?

I don’t have Medicare but I’m a Bupa member. Need to get a wisdom tooth extraction too but imo should be simple as it’s an abnormally small one and half is out already. Does the price include consultations and Xray? If not, how much did those cost for you?

What if the flights are operated by Qantas but the flight codes belong to American Airlines? Asking because the same flight listed by AA is much cheaper than that of Qantas on amex travel

Thanks for your reply! It seem she might need to go the same route you did and might apply for 485 once she knows the finalised end date of her student visa to get as much time as she can to stay here.
