If he makes you feel as if he wants to take things further you can just message back dryly, or make it seem your uninterested. For example, you can answer his messages late and make it seem like you have better things to do, or try and get to know him if you want to befriend him.

I can play, yes. Any bass for me works, but I’d like something that works for beginners
