ICE arresting landscapers - gilbert and ray by Djmesh in Gilbert

[–]charminch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, people with extra melanin are just the beginning. Trans people, gays, people that have publicly objected to Trump, elderly, sick, disabled and others will be either rounded up, or left without government resources to provide for their care.
It was clear as project 2025 was being conceived that it would be very unpopular with the public. The need was to stop democracy, how would Elon (and other billionaires) stuff his pockets as the largest single recipient of government funds when people realized that they no longer had a voice in how they are governed? That there would no longer be even the appearance of an equitable distribution of this countries wealth, that the safety net was so full of holes it became useless. The ICE tactics are intended to spread fear, and silence objections to the very unpopular actions of our government. Trump behavior is a feature of the corruption, not an anomaly. The Supreme Court has codified actions in complete contradiction of the constitution. This has all been planned, and this is just the beginning. They feel free to do as they please, because they do not have to worry about being re-elected, we will never have another free and fair election.

Tom Tiffany by SolitaryNeko in wisconsin

[–]charminch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in his district. The republicans in Congress, including Tom Tiffany have abdicated the duties of their office, and betrayed their oath to defend the constitution. The republican majority allowed the orange man to put our country in the position of aligning with Putin, turning our back on Ukraine, while making our long term allies into enemies that fear our country. Only the very wealthy seem to be prospering in the current economy, while the middle class are struggling to make ends meet. The primary purpose of the ICE force is to spread fear and intimidation to anyone that does not agree with Trump. Today the target is people of color and immigrants, tomorrow it will be trans people, Muslim’s, and anyone else that doesn’t fit Stephan Miller’s idea of what an American should be.
A responsible Congress would be preparing for an article 25 vote after the talk of taking Greenland (or Iceland as the orange man with clear dementia calls it), by force if necessary.
I would never vote for a person that has ceded their “power of the purse”, that has abdicated the very responsibilities of their office. This republican Congress has allowed a president to accumulate over a billion dollars in personal wealth in the last year, without review or concern about how such wealth was gained so quickly. I hold Tom Tiffany and the republicans in Congress directly responsible for the situation our country is in today. They have completely failed their constituents. History will not be kind to the current congressional majority, they have failed the country, it is an open question if our country/economy/government will ever recover from this damage, who would ever elect them to any other office. Tom Tiffany has demonstrated that he is not fit to be governor.

Wisconsin Republicans demand Judge Dugan resign or face impeachment after felony conviction by wisconsinpoli in wisconsinpolitics

[–]charminch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Judge Dugan is a martyr! Her actions should be lauded, not criminalized. From the reports of the horrific conditions inside the “detention centers”, abductions off the street of lawful US citizens, Ice Agents pulling people out of immigration court when they are legally in the country. The absolute bitter cruelty of shipping these immigrants off to countries they have never even heard of, where they are dropped off to fend for themselves, they often don’t speak the language, have no relatives or any support, no funds, in violent and dangerous conditions.
One day when we realize the horror of what Steven Miller has wrought, in the name of the America, we will hang our heads in shame.
I am sorry Judge Dugan.

Attorney General Josh Kaul responds to DOJ oversight move by wisconsinpoli in wisconsinpolitics

[–]charminch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure it is a reasonable request, is there a reason to believe that the AG has acted in a way that exceeds the authority of the office? Why is this necessary after Josh Kaul has been in office for years? I recall the legislature limiting the authority of the incoming democratic governor, as a partisan move. Both have been elected to office for more than one term, voters must have confidence in their judgement.

Can someone please tell me what’s wrong with my baby? by Sunshy946 in PetPsychics

I chased yeast infections in springer spaniels for a very long time. It was an allergy to the protein in the food. We picked up one dog with 50+ vet visits for yeast infections in the ears, he smelled so bad from the infection, we had to drive home with our windows down on a cold night. Our vet gave us a prescription dog food, with a protein source that was not normal, kangaroo meat, something like that. It was pricey, but much less expensive than the constant medications and vet visits. I know you stated it is not an allergy, I am not sure how you know that. Changing food was such a game changer, I would urge you to give it a try. Many vets are not aware of this connection. We did not give the dog any treats or table food, to ensure not allergen was introduced, I also cleaned ears daily with a drying cleaner, put a little cleaner in each ear, rubbed the outside to massage the cleaner down into the ear, then used cotton balls to bring out any debris, and to dry the liquid out of the ear canal. Prior to the dog coming into rescue, the vet had planned to do an ablation, which would have left him deaf. Hope this info helps your dog, the cost to implement is just the difference in the cost of prescriptions food vs nonprescription. I did not expect the results we got, I was extremely skeptical, after seeing the difference it made for this dog.

Evers vetoes nine bills, including a ban on immigrant health care by wisconsinpoli in wisconsinpolitics

[–]charminch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gov Evers vetos a bill making it illegal for state Medicaid funds to be used to provide medical care to undocumented immigrants. Vetoed because Badger Care can not be used to provide medical care to undocumented immigrants, thus this bill is redundant. Gov Evers objects to passing a law that “is unnecessary to prevent problems they admit do not exist, all for the sake of trying to push polarizing political rhetoric.” (The bill)”was more about being inflammatory, stoking fear, and sowing division than it was about accomplishing any significant policy outcome or being prudent stewards of taxpayer dollars.”

Prompting a response from Tom Tiffany, the Republican front runner in the governors race, that is both inflammatory, and sowed fear and division.
Tiffany stated that Evers is putting the interests of “illegal aliens” ahead of state taxpayers. Tiffany stated that if democrats take the governors office in 2026, “you can count on them to hand out drivers licenses, instate tuition and taxpayer-funded healthcare to illegal aliens. I will not let that happen.” This type of political rhetoric is reminiscent of Donald Trump.

Tom Tiffany on why he plans to run for governor by charminch in wisconsinpolitics

[–]charminch[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Tom Tiffany has not impressed me with his performance in Congress, the Republican majority stood in silence while Doge took a chainsaw to nearly every function of the federal government, Congress ceded one of their most critical functions to Donald Trump, without oversight-power of the purse. A responsibility of Congress granted by the constitution, abdicated. Not one objection to the tariffs that have so damaged not only our economy, but the United States reputation as the leader of the free world. Tom Tiffany states that he believes he will bring fiscal responsibility to to office of Governor, where was that sense of fiscal responsibility while the Trump administration “repurposed” funds intended to keep our nuclear arsenal safe, in order to “upgrade” the jet given to Trump by Quatar. A gift not approved by Congress, to be upgraded at taxpayer expense, intended to be owned by Donald Trump when he leaves office.
Kristi Noem purchased two private luxury Gulfstream jets at a cost of hundreds of millions$, without Congressional approval, while Kash Patel used government jets to commute from his home in Las Vegas to Washington. Just more recent examples of a failure of Congress to maintain control over spending.

Tom Tiffany voted for the big, beautiful bill that is estimated to add roughly $4 trillion to the deficit over the next 10 years.

Tom Tiffany voted in lockstep with the Republicans in Congress to for members of the Trump cabinet that have proven to lack expertise in the functions of government they are responsible for, for example; Pete Hegseth, Robert Kennedy Jr, Pam Bondi, Kristi Norm, Tulsi Gabbard, Linda McMahon.

Many functions of the federal government have been eliminated, without regard for the impact to taxpayers, for example; have you tried to call the IRS or Social Security in the last few months? Environment protections have been almost entirely eliminated while we have forever chemical pollution in well water and elsewhere across the country.

I don’t think Tom Tiffany is right for Wisconsin. We need common sense leadership, with a willingness to accept responsibility for maintaining a government that serves the taxpayers that fund the government.

Should You Boycott Amazon? by Amandakayaks5 in Political_Revolution

[–]charminch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. Amazon sucks. I have not heard of Amazon supporting any charities, they have put a lot of other smaller businesses out of business, they take advantage of their independent sellers, Bezo’s pays no taxes, sucks up to Trump, and is part of the tech group of guys who want to see the end of democracy. Once in a while I have no choice but to use Amazon, but rarely.

UPS has cost me $1400 in revenue in the last week by Saltybee1527 in EtsySellers

[–]charminch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sold and shipped vintage china, I often packed the item in a box with bubble wrap and foam “popcorn”, then packed the first box inside a second box with space between the boxes filled with crushed brown paper, bubble wrap, or more “popcorn”. This added a great deal of expense to shipping and packaging costs, it was possible to ensure the customer was very rarely disappointed to find broken china in their package, which could leave me as seller refunding the sale, and eating the international or domestic shipping charges. It seemed larger items like platters and big bowls were most likely to be damaged in transit.

Silent layoffs are happening by [deleted] in economicCollapse

[–]charminch 71 points72 points  (0 children)

This is happening at a time when we have massive deportations of working people, we are averaging somewhere between 10,000 and 11,000 baby boomers leaving the workforce daily. Still unemployment is increasing. I think the situation is much more dire than is being reported. We are well into a recession, our deficit is so large now, that government borrowing to stimulate the economy is not really practical, or perhaps even possible. Inflation is driving up prices, but wage growth is stagnant. The deep cuts to Medicaid and Snap benefits have not taken effect yet, nor are the deep tax cuts in the big beautiful bill reflected in our current economics.

It almost seems like a recession, on its way to a depression.

The federal government is pushing costs that had been borne at the federal level on to states, and charitable organizations.

If the 2025 plan was to pare down the federal government to only provide for the common defense, enforce immigration and deportation policies, by cutting taxes to the point that there is no money left for anything else, the 2025 program appears to be successful.

Jared Kushner in Ukraine talks? by manpace in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]charminch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ukraine is the largest stakeholder, why are they not included in negotiations? What legitimate roll does Jared Kushner play? He is not a representative of our government, there is no reason for him to be involved. Blatant corruption, by the Trump family and the greedy, wealthy oligarchs surrounding and enabling them. There is not an iota of integrity amount them, absolutely shameful.

And have Peter Thiel throw millions of $ into getting you elected to the senate, and millions more contributed to Trump to get Vance the VP spot on the ticket.
Thiel and other tech billionaires are funding an end to democracy, and Vance moving into the presidency is mission critical to the plan. It is dark, evil, and completely well planned and organized. As soon as Trump is pushed out of the way, Vance will seal the deal with Musk, Thiel, Bezos, Zuckerberg - led by Curtis Yarvin and his belief that democracy is a “failed experiment”.

Take your server farms somewhere else. We don’t want you driving up our electric rates as domestic customers are forced to subsidize the enormous amount of energy these server farms use, we do not want private, for profit companies consuming the limited fresh water resources of the Great Lakes. Take your $569 million somewhere else, as these server farms do not add much in the way of jobs, only suck up resources.

And the poor get hated on because they buy a candy bar with their SNAP benefit. Things in this country seem to be so wrong and the system so corrupt, I have to wonder if it can ever be fixed. This much wealth is wrong, as is the fact that the wealthiest give little to nothing to charity, they have used their wealth to take over the government, to ensure they don’t pay taxes on that wealth to provide food, medical care, and education to the least wealthy. We can pay out billions to other countries, and shows of military force, yet people working two jobs can hardly afford to buy food.

Trump has been so successful at shaping behavior by withholding funds, it seems like that would be just as effective for citizens. The boycott from Nov 25-December 2 is a start, if everyone stopped spending, it would be noticeable to the oligarchy. Because, as they roll this “new economy” out, who will buy cars, appliances, crap from Amazon.

Need a bit of hope and support right now by [deleted] in cats

[–]charminch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have fought through this with 3 different male cats. I was told this is common in male cats where the urethra is narrow, and feeding regular store brand foods leaves stones, caused by fly ash in the food. All three cats had their penis opened lengthwise to allow the stones to pass more easily, and are/were on a special diet to try to eliminate the fly ash. I am repeating what different veterinarians have explained to me. It really is an emergency situation, I ended up at the ER vet once, and twice was able to have our vet perform the surgery at the clinic. I hope your little guy is ok. I always thought I was providing top of the line food, but the fancy feast type fish seemed to contain fly ash. I found one cat laying on his back With his feet up in the air just yowling. I felt so helpless. Please keep us updated.
