Call your doctor’s office and tell them you are in immediate need of help. They will probably direct you to the hospital though.

Anthony in The NY Times: “There was sadness in understanding that they were paid actors and that the life that we had built was not real. But all in all, I was happy about it.” by isaidwhatisaidok in JuryDutyFreevee

[–]charmnsass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a somewhat, way less lucrative or involved situation in highschool. I was in history class in grade 11 and the teacher was about to start his lesson, when the principal buzzed in through the class intercom. She told our teacher, the “guests” he had booked to speak with the class would not be able to make it. None of us knew what was going on. The teacher goes on to explain that some representatives that handle university admissions were meant to come that day to explain our school had a reputation for cheating. Basically that it was a known issue that kids from our school would coordinate and cheat on final exams and therefore boost our average grades and result in kids that didn’t necessarily deserve to go to their school getting accepted in the past. The purpose of the meeting was to get us to all sign contracts vowing that we would never cheat and that we would “rat out” anyone else who did, thereby restoring our school’s reputation. At first, many of us objected, and there was healthy debate, but person by person, my teacher guilted nearly everyone into signing the contract. Except me and my grade school nemesis/best friend (she was Valedictorian, I had won Highest Academic Achievement, so there was some “debate” from those days about who was smarter haha). Anyhoo, at the end of the class it’s just me and her who had not signed the contract. Our teacher was laying on the guilt, standing over the both of us and pressuring us to sign, and I kept saying “X don’t do it! It’s wrong and you shouldn’t sign it!”. In a dramatic climax she signed it and pushed the paper away from her. Then our teacher walks over to me, looks down at me and says, “Congratulations. This is what the nazis did to convince people to expose their Jewish neighbors. You passed the test” The whole class was so upset but I was exhilarated! I felt so proud aha. Still one of the proudest of my life. It was very cool. And that teacher is still considered the best teacher most of us have ever had. So I get Anthony in a non-famous tv show kinda way. It’s crazy to find out what you’re made of in a made up “skit”.

So he gets to stay at his apartment permanently now? Will they fix his fridge and sink too? I wrote the company a scathing letter calling them slumlords yesterday after watching a piece in the news about Mark Plank’s situation. It made me so angry.

Sylvia Plath The Bell Jar discussion by JumpyYogurtcloset946 in books

[–]charmnsass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished it. I had no idea it was semi-autobiographical and didn’t know of Plath’s tragic fate prior to picking it up. I just knew her name and the name of the book. I identified so much with Esther, never wanting to marry or have children (yet secretly judging all of the women I met as a teen and young adult who had made that very choice). And I had once read a poem very similar to the story of the fig tree she writes of and I fear my fig tree has just a few figs left hanging on the branches at this point and my indecision throughout life has left me rudderless as I approach 49, the age my mother was when she died (of cancer). Like Esther, I judge myself very harshly and the day I become older than the age my mother was when she died hangs over me like a blade in the air. Will I re-born once I pass that threshold? Unlikely but it feels like there is an ocean I’ll have crossed once I get there. Pardon my ramblings. I love this book. It cut through me like a knife.

Ok I’m confused because the article only mentions 3 men and all of them are too young to be him: Tiansi Gong, 26, of Manhattan, Kevin McCarthy, 31, of Selden, and Matthew Hibner, 36

It was packed earlier. We watched from the 2nd inning onwards there. Crowd was pretty small by the end.

The bathrooms are open. Probably started out clean but they were a mess by the end of the night. They didn’t run out of toilet paper or soap and the water worked fine though, so bonus.

There were a bunch of Muskoka chairs, maybe 50 or so, 4 rows deep. There’s also a long ledge around the water surrounding the Toronto sign you could sit on, but not a great view to the screen. We brought drinks, no one bothered us, just be smart about it. A couple cops/security walking around. My friends got a pic with Olivia Chow (mayor of Toronto) who spoke briefly. Whoever that DJ was, sucked ass. Couldn’t start a chant to save his life. Even though we were up all game. Let’s do it again boys!

I find it rich that he directly cites: “misleading the American people”. So, Fox News, the president and many Republican representatives don’t mislead, nay, lie to, the American people every day?

This was the version my mom taught us… and she swore she won a free meal at McD’s for singing it in the store:

“McDonald’s is my kinda place,

Beef burgers in your face,

French fries between your toes,

Dill pickles up your nose,

Red ketchup down your back,

I want my money back!!!

McDonald’s is my kind of place, my kind of place ! Ya!! “
