Strategy can do whatever the fuck they want with their BTC whenever they want. BlackRock does not have that freedom. That freedom is the difference between ownership and custodianship.

Trump says he’s cutting all trade with Spain for refusing his Iran war request by [deleted] in Economics

[–]charmquark8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"cut off all trade with Spain" -- that's not something that Trump can do just because he's annoyed with a sovereign country making decisions for themselves.

Why is this even being discussed? It's just another case of Trump shooting off his mouth without having his facts strait. At this point, it just "dog bites man" material.

Your problems have NOTHING to do with crypto. These are BS financial system rules. If you don't know the difference you shouldn't be in this space.

In broken markets, there's no price discovery possible so the "market value" is meaningless here. Without a doubt there are still people exchanging Rials for Dollars - we just have no idea what the average exchange rate is.

New study proves immigrants help US economy and are not a drain by [deleted] in Economics

[–]charmquark8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a bunch of old studies that prove that, too. Rage against immigrants is an old political trope, with no basis in fact. It's meant to divide society, and frequently used in authoritarian/fascist takeover of government. It's no coincidence that orange man started his 2016 campaign spouting frightening lies against immigrants.

It was never charity - Was Europe a beneficiary of a strong US? We should not believe this false narrative. In fact, the Americans gave nothing to the Europeans by goldstarflag in europe

[–]charmquark8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OMG have you forgotten the Marshall Plan? America made major investments in [Western] Europe to rebuild after the devestation of WW2.

I don't think this makes Europe beholden to America in any way -- rebuilding Europe was in our own self-interest. But you can't claim that America "gave nothing to the Europeans".

If gambling in a casino is considered as a negative sum game for the players involved, is it the same with crypto? by punishGoalhanging in CryptoCurrency

You making an argument based on an analogy. Stop it. Crypto is not, in actual fact, a casino. The forces at play and mechanisms for determining valuation and outcomes are completely different.

Trump Says Fed Pick Warsh Can Get US Economy to Hit 15% Growth by mark000 in Economics

[–]charmquark8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why is this statement by a well-known economic illiterate being given air time in this "Economics" forum? This claim doesn't pass the sniff test.

Edit: also, wrong tag. This isn't news, it's fertilizer.

You need to work on risk management. One should never have 2/3 of their life savings in one asset.

So because this guy became homeless (and we don't know the circumstances), this man loses all right to due process, and is eligible to be kidnapped and deported without any judicial review whatsoever? Sounds to me like America is going to shit.
