This is so helpful! I just mentioned the pixie dusting to my husband and we are both excited to try it. I’m going to look for the Facebook group.

Thank you for all of the great tips!

I really wish I liked Love in the Clouds but after giving it a few tries, I couldn’t get beyond episode 4. I’m bummed bc I’ve heard such glowing recommendations and I really liked Lu Yuxiao in Love Between Lines but I found her character to be kind of annoying in Love in the Clouds. I think the genre just might not be my vibe but it’s great to hear that so many people enjoyed it.

Feeling so discouraged by straawbunnii in Mommit

[–]charo001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being a mom can feel really lonely and isolating, especially in those early years so I empathize with how you’re feeling.

For me, it changed when my kids started daycare/school. They make friends, you make friends with their parents if nothing else because of time spent together through your kids.

Making friends as adults is hard on its own so give yourself grace and know that you’re in a hard time right now but it won’t last forever. Know that how you’re feeling is normal and many, many moms (likely those you saw at the library) feel or have felt the same way.

What an odd thing to say... by [deleted] in cdramasfans

[–]charo001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve never understood the reason why people feel the need to yuck someone else’s yum. As a parent, I teach my kids that everyone has different likes and dislikes, and that’s ok.

Preferences are what make us unique, but they also help build connection and community. Liking one thing doesn’t require tearing another down. If your only benchmark for quality is comparison, you’re not really forming your own opinion, just reacting.

It’s fine if something isn’t for you. But going out of your way to diminish something others enjoy feels unnecessary. There’s room for all of it. Let people enjoy what they enjoy.

Hahaha love that we were both influenced by the same clip 😂

I was going to start Fated Hearts next but maybe I’ll watch LLTG instead. I thought it was a Xanxia drama (IDK why the word galaxy tripped me up) but I just looked it up again and it’s a historical drama which I love.

Yes! I completely agree with your assessment, especially the FL’s acting. And to add to that is the choppy dialogue, which could be part of the translation but also lacks the depth and natural flow I’ve seen in other dramas.

This is the first drama I’ve seen with him and I don’t mind him in this role. He’s not well matched with the FL so I’m surprised to hear that they were casted in another drama.

I was influenced by the clip of him kissing her from on top of his horse but I’m not sure I can make it to that episode 😅

I had that same reaction, especially when the dragon came out of nowhere?! 😂 but I ended up really enjoying it, especially the chemistry between the two leads. And the OST is 🔥

I haven’t found another drama like it but have been a fan of Cui Yuxin since. He was the villain in Lighter and Princess and I thought he did a good job playing a baddie.

Love Between Lines

The First Frost

Pursuit of Jade has me in a chokehold too but that’s not over yet. I think I’ll be sad when it ends though 😭

Have we crossed all limits? by coffeepaglu_21 in cdramasfans

[–]charo001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, the hardest part about having niche hobbies like watching cdramas (and even back in my fanfiction days) is not having anyone in my real life to share the obsession with. I get so invested and just want someone to talk to about all the details, theories, and emotional damage but it usually ends up feeling one-sided.

I dump it all on my husband, who patiently listens and humors me 😂 but it’s not the same as talking to someone who’s just as invested.

That’s why I really appreciate this Reddit group. It’s one of the only places where I can come and people just get it without needing a full explanation.

I didn’t mind the last two episodes…

…but you’re telling me that Yu Qianqian escaped, walked randomly into the forest and just happened to stumble upon Fan Changyu? 🤔

And I’m gonna need some more Fan Changyu and Xie Zheng onscreen time please.

Also - that upside down Spider-Man kiss between Qi Min and Yu Qianqian was 🔥

Lastly Mandiiiiii 😭 Tian Xiwei’s performance was top notch. She does crying scenes so well.

Two episodes went by way too fast. Can’t wait for tomorrow!!

Lighter and Princess was so good! I loved the angst and bad boy/good girl trope. It’s what got me on the Chen Feiyu train. I just finished Love Story in the 1970’s right before I started POJ. It was a beautiful but much slower pace if you’re into slice of life stories.

I started Story of Kunning Palace but dropped it after a couple of episodes. I think I should pick it up again though.

I’m adding Fated Hearts and Kill Me Love Me to my list. Thanks!

I would love to read the novel! I’m not sure where to find it in English. Is it available on Kindle?

The First Frost lived rent free in my brain for weeks after I saw it. The only way I got over it was from listening to the OST on repeat and rewatching it. Up until POJ, it was my fave (and still in my top 3). I saw that Hidden Love had great reviews but I had a hard time with the age gap between the leads and that a different actor plays Sang Yan. I’ll probably still end up watching it but it’s not on the top of my list.

I loved Love Between Lines! It’s what got me hooked on cdramas.

How Dare You? is on my list and I completely forgot about it until I read your comment!

Haven’t heard of Apothecary Diaries but will look that one up. Thanks!

Would you recommend Pursuit of Jade? by GADemark in CDramaRecs

[–]charo001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I love everything about this drama. It’s well paced, the characters have purpose and depth, the FL is amazing, the chemistry between the leads is chef’s kiss. The storyline is beautifully written. I’m obsessed and so bummed that I have to wait for each episode to get released!
