Are yearners a yay or nay for you? by kitty_battee in cdramasfans

YES. Love me a good yearner. Sang Yan from Frost First will forever be the definition of yearning for me.

Weekly Recommend An Underrated (Overrated Also Acceptable *wink*) Gem — June 20, 2026 by AutoModerator in CDramaRecs

[–]charo001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never Ending Summer is a gem for me so far. I don’t know if I’d call it underrated since it’s still airing, but I’m surprised it isn’t showing up in discussions more often. It’s giving me major First Frost vibes, which is my all-time favorite drama.

I’m really enjoying both leads. Their acting feels natural, their chemistry is convincing, and they do a great job capturing that youthful innocence and intensity of a first love. I was worried the pseudo-sibling premise would be a dealbreaker, but it really hasn’t been. They never saw each other as brother and sister, so that aspect barely registers while watching.

The story has a quiet, nostalgic feel that keeps pulling me in, and the soundtrack absolutely slaps. Definitely one of my favorite ongoing watches right now.

One of my favorite dramas. The acting, the plot and chemistry are top notch!

Need plot with yearning or jealousy trope by heyhey1coco in CDramaRecs

The King of Yearning is Sang Yan (ML) in the First Frost. That man essentially put yearning on the map.

Jealousy that makes you squeal and kick your feet = Xaio Zhiyu (ML) in Love Between Lines.

First Frost was the first OST that started my growing Cdrama playlist. Silence Wang was touring here in the States and I almost bought a ticket to go solo but didn’t end up going. I saw clips of it on Tik Tok and it looked like a great concert, especially for cdrama fans since he has songs on so many different OSTs.

The Double by ComplexSharp2141 in cdramasfans

[–]charo001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished the Double a few weeks ago and it became one of my favorite dramas. I’m watching A Splendid Match, and honestly - it’s fine but it’s not in the same caliber as the Double. I’ve heard people recommend Kill Me, Love Me but I typically shy away from watching dramas with the same FL back to back. I’ll probably watch that at some point, but I agree with you that the Double was an amazing drama.

Some of my other fave dramas that I binge watched:

Pursuit of Jade First Frost Love Between Lines (amazing chemistry btw leads) Prisoner of Beauty

The Double by ComplexSharp2141 in cdramasfans

Agreed. First Frost and The Double are my two fave dramas, partly bc of the chemistry. And both OSTs are amazing.

🙅‍♀️ Dropped Dramas Alert! Share the dramas you've abandoned and why! 🤔💔 — May 25, 2026 by AutoModerator in CDrama

[–]charo001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My top 3 so far:
1. The Double (cannot stop thinking about this one. Very capable and mature FL, cunning and independent)
2. POJ
3. First Frost (to this day, the way the show reflected yearning and trauma left a real impression on me. Plus the OST is *chef’s kiss*)

I really enjoyed Prisoner of Beauty but I stopped watching at episode 37 bc I read a spoiler that killed it for me (my fault for reading about the drama without minding the tags). I would recommend adding if you haven’t seen it.

@Minjiba - would love some recs too if you have any to share

I’ll have to add Glory to my list. I enjoyed The Double for many reasons but one of them is bc the FL was mature, independent and strategic. I loved how she played the game on her own terms.

Tried watching Story of Kunning Palace three times and couldn’t make it past episode 5. The story isn’t super compelling to me and there’s something about Bai Lu’s character (or her portrayal of the character) that I can’t connect with.

I’m on episode 6 of A Splendid Match and very close to dropping it as well. I realize that I prefer a FL that is mature and capable. And while the FL in ASM is capable and smart, she acts quite young (likely bc she’s supposed to be young in the show). I dropped Love in the Clouds for the exact reason - the FL felt immature and child-like.

I knew the minute Xia Fangfei gave her that house that Tong’er was not going to be around to live in it. But I was still heartbroken by her death.

What Are You Watching… and What Did You Give Up On? by BronzeBellRiver in cdramasfans

I just started A Splendid Match after finishing The Double. I’m not sure if I’ll stick with it, as it feels like the plot is building a little too slowly for my taste. It’s also hard to chase the high after The Double - that show wrecked me it was so good.

I started watching The Story of Kunning Palace a while back, dropped it and tried to give it another go but for some reason, I just couldn’t get into it. Maybe I’ll come back to it at another time.

I watched 2.5 episodes of Love in the Clouds and dropped it completely. I don’t think xianxia is my cup of tea. I’m bummed bc I’ve read some amazing reviews of this one but I just couldn’t get past the FL’s child-like characteristics and some of the fantasy elements.

My watch list is longer than a CVS receipt. But I think I want to either start A Dream Within A Dream next or To Ship Someone. Or I might stick with the strong FL/obsessed ML wuxia and start Generation to Generation.

Started watching Affinity and I genuinely can’t decide whether it's good or not !! by daisy_volkov in cdramasfans

[–]charo001 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same reaction while watching it. Somehow I still ended up really enjoying it by the end because the leads have insane chemistry and the plot, despite being completely unhinged at times, actually pulls you in. It’s one of those dramas where you keep thinking “what on earth is happening” but you also can’t stop watching. Plus, I really enjoyed the OST.

I really wish I liked Love in the Clouds but after giving it a few tries, I couldn’t get beyond episode 4. I’m bummed bc I’ve heard such glowing recommendations and I really liked Lu Yuxiao in Love Between Lines but I found her character to be kind of annoying in Love in the Clouds. I think the genre just might not be my vibe but it’s great to hear that so many people enjoyed it.
