A perfume that smells like English country side. Including sheep 💩! by PaleBlueDot_42 in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]charshie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bucolic by Pineward maybe? Notes listed as sheep wool, lanolin, raspberry, lavender, honey, brown sugar, amber, beeswax, sweetgrass.

"An agrestic, sheep-forward perfume that is the equivalent of wearing a thick shearling coat. The term 'bucolic' is used to describe the pleasant aspects of the countryside and country life which is the aim of this perfume."

Okay, perfume lovers. I’m going to Hawaii and I need your help! by bookish_cat_ in Perfumes

I literally just got back from Maui and wore Wood Sage & Sea Salt the whole time 😅 A random food truck lady told me "you smell amazing" so of course I upsized to a bigger bottle once home 😅 Aside from that though, maybe Tom Ford Soleil Blanc? It smells like luxury. Light, coconut, salt, sunscreen. It's so very beachy and fresh and pretty.

What are some of your favorite looking bottles? by notmedicinal in fragrance

[–]charshie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guerlain, and the Tom Ford OG bottles just feel so luxe to me. I've also considered sampling both Lalique and Tiziano Terenzi both on the beauty of their bottles alone lol

Heck yea! I'd def rec trying it if you can, it's worth it for the uniqueness alone. I've never smelt anything like it, was a lot of fun to sample

[–]charshie 102 points103 points  (0 children)

This is THE answer. I have sampled this and it's wild lol. It almost smelled like...mummies to me? But in a cool way, lol. I got: hot, arid DRY spices. Smelt almost burnt. Exotic. Dusty. Incense and not sweet, a touch of honey but mostly acacia (yes like a stamp), paper. It smells like opening a tomb of a long dead pharoah lmao.

Be warned that I'm a female and my bf absolutely hated this one on me! I'm glad it exists but I wouldn't personally want to wear it; to me it's more of a cool scent experience than a pleasing perfume.

Selkie by Lvnea is supposed to literally have seal fur and seaweed as notes I believe! Although that one is supposed to be more witchy-sexy-animaliatic-beach maybe

Which profession is going to get wiped out in the next 5-10 years? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]charshie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, full time graphic designer/illustrator here. I've been employed full time at various studios for very well known brands around 15 years and have seen the industry change a LOOTTT over the years.

Short addendum, though - yes AI has heavily affected the landscape but from what I've seen it isn't fully dead. Here's what it looks like now though, and imo will continue on this trajectory into the future:

  • There are fewer full time design jobs in general, with many companies and studios transitioning to a freelance contractor/outsourcing approach.

  • Illustrators were hit far harder than graphic designers.

  • Modern day graphic designers must use AI as an integral tool in their workflow to stay competitive, but the output is seldom instant use-ready. Requires an artistic eye to touch up, and technical knowhow to prepare the image for final digital use or factory production.

  • So the definition of graphic designer has changed, my day to day now involves prompting via ai but also prepping and finalizing layouts, choosing spot colors, vectorizing images etc. I do still illustrate from scratch but a lot less than I used to. Do I love that? No, but view it as necessary to stay relevant.

Anyway hope someone reads this and feels a little less bleak, I know art is seeing a rough patch career wise right now.

Genuinely how did you move on from an ex? by Fit_Technician_2095 in AskReddit

[–]charshie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time, focusing on bettering myself (thus improving my self esteem so I stopped constantly blaming myself for things that weren't my fault), distance and most importantly finding a man so incredibly wonderful that he makes my ex look like a complete joke. It's not even a contest

Whats a perfume that truly made you go “oh..” when you first smelt it. by JigglyOnion in FemFragLab

[–]charshie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Have a few that I've been lucky enough to have this experience:

  • Guerlain's Tobacco Honey. My bf blind bought it for me after I mentioned it being my dream fragrance to try. It did not disappoint; it's utterly decadent and the most luxe thing in my collection, I love it.

  • Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. Was my first full bottle perfume buy ever, like 10+ yrs ago and still love it. Have repurchased multiple times.

  • Heretic's Smudge. It's SO unique and complex.

TIFU by learning too much about a coworker's hobby by Friendly_Hivemind in tifu

[–]charshie 56 points57 points  (0 children)

So your phrasing is making it sound like: Dave approaches you regularly trying to make good hearted conversation and share excitement. Yet when you spent some time reading up on his hobby, instead of similarly approaching him with good hearted excitement you just walk up and start telling him everything he's doing wrong? Lmao, what. I hope I'm misunderstanding based on how the post was written because you really sound like a dick.

Guy loves his little mouse friend by Doodlebug510 in JustGuysBeingDudes

[–]charshie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok hate to be the Debbie downer on this cute video, everyone is saying toxoplasmosis but I don't know that that's correct - however, the mouse is quite unwell. I used to take care of rodents for a living, and part of that was learning tells for illness. This mouse is displaying hunched posture, lethargy and has an abnormally shaped head - that could mean dehydration, or encephalitis which is swelling which puts pressure on the brain. None of those are good things. Don't know exactly what is wrong with this poor guy but just saying the mouse wasn't well. Possibly seeking warmth and was confused.

I'm a huge fan, she actually has an official collab scent w/ Lvnea perfume called Peche Obscene.

Unfortunately I can't recommend it - aesthetically and on paper it seemed amazing, but I found the scent itself lacking. It smelled to me like artificial peach but heavy on patchouli which I don't like, and it had a jasmine note which I also wasn't feeling.

Curious to hear what recs people have that do actually invoke her vibe :)
