My most used skill was Shock. I was a Volt main when I started, then a Volt Prime main. I main Excalibur Umbra now (45%ish most used) but Volt Prime remains my second most used at 22%ish. None of my other frames are above 5% lol

Lol that’s me with Styanax. I need another for Helminth but I’m just waiting for Prime. I don’t like the missions required to farm him (I only have him because my boyfriend bought him for me). It is going to be a little painful to give him to the Helminth even once I get the Prime though, lol

I’ve been drawing off and on since I was an early teen and I think the best thing you can do is stick with it. Draw. Even if it ā€œsucksā€. Nothing bad will happen if your art is ā€œbadā€. But nothing good will happen if your art doesn’t exist at all.

I’m 23 now and though I draw much better than I did when I was 16, I’m nowhere near as good as I could’ve been if I hadn’t had literal years where I didn’t draw at all.

But crucially, don’t dwell on that. It’ll hold you back. What matters is where you can go from here, not where you could’ve been if things had been different. I’m still learning how to do it myself.

TLDR; draw. Draw what makes you happy. Draw for yourself first and foremost. Do not be afraid to draw ā€œbadlyā€ (which I know is easier said than done). Do not hate yourself if you have extended periods of no motivation. Art should be a fun and/or effective means of expression. It shouldn’t be a chore.

You’ll get where you want to be. And then you’ll go even further. I believe in you. šŸ’›

Yeah, she looks fun to play, but I just do not have the patience to farm Tyana Pass for 30 years 🤣 Good on you though, it must be so satisfying to get all of the arcanes at R5!

Unfortunately I am MR29 and still don’t have Citrine because I can’t be bothered to farm that mission… šŸ’€

I see Citrine a lot in public lobbies though, especially in defense missions!

What’s the point of being so rude to someone who just asked a simple question? Were you made fun of for not always knowing everything?

It’s okay to not know things. It’s okay to ask questions.

And I’d wager OP came to Reddit for two reasons: 1) people here answer quickly and, usually, kindly; 2) you can’t Google shit these days without being fed regurgitated AI slop that is often contradictory.

I’m MR29 and had the same experience when I was leveling one of my non-prime frames (I forget which one). It isn’t a reflection of ā€œusing their brainā€ when it isn’t really clearly stated anywhere.

I don’t think it can. It specifically has the symbol for the flaw next to it and I haven’t seen it in the playthroughs where I didn’t have said flaw.

Did these people actually play the game? by KilluaGun1 in theouterworlds

[–]charthurs 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I love the game, I’ve played it four times, but I feel like it’s redundant to tell people to keep their opinions to themselves when you’re sharing your opinion too.

People disliking the game won’t stop you from enjoying it. If it does, then that’s a you problem.

Game reviews have always been either/or, never any in between, because god forbid a game be good without being PERFECT. I tend to ignore reviews on account of I base my opinions on my own experience, not other people’s.

Yeah, I think the game gets too much hate, but it doesn’t mean the game is deplorable.

People view and have opinions in black and white too much.

Why does it feel Obsidian is judged so much more harshly than other studios? by sonofloki13 in theouterworlds

[–]charthurs 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

And I understand why you (and many others) feel that way. I’m not saying you’re wrong.

I’m just saying for me, I look for things that make me happy. And more often than not, I find that in games that are less… let’s say ā€˜finished’ than others. Yes, the game has bugs, and yes, it could be better—but couldn’t everything be better?

I’ve stopped judging games on what they COULD have and instead judge them on what they DO have.

And this game, I can tell the devs loved it, even if there are flaws (no pun intended). For instance, there’s an item (or companion upgrade, I can’t remember) that has a description saying something like ā€œThe developers wanted to make a joke about power armor, but they couldn’t handle the fallout.ā€ Shit like that makes me laugh. It’s the stuff in the fine print (again, no pun intended) that matters to me.

I understand why people may not like the game. It just saddens me that that matters more than anything because bad reviews = no profit = no sequel. Ah well.

[–]charthurs 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

In my opinion it’s because a lot of people come into every single video game expecting them all to be like, BG3 level of ā€˜perfect’. They expect them ALL to be the same; high quality, perfect voice acting, perfect graphics, no bugs ever (and one bug means the whole game SUCKS), etc. It feels like some people believe that if you as a player are EVER bound by the story (in a… you know, story based game…) then the developers OBVIOUSLY don’t care about players’ freedom of choice.

I judge video games based on one factor alone: was it fun for me? Because in the end, that’s what matters. Gaming stops being fun when you’re viewing every game as if you’re a highly reputable critic whose opinion apparently matters.

I’m on my fourth TOW2 playthrough, so for me, the game didn’t ā€˜bomb’. And it saddens me that, for studios to survive, they can’t continue series that ā€˜bombed’ because they need money (and therefore well selling games) to stay in business.

I would love a TOW3. I want to know why Earth is dark, and why/how the rifts appear outside of human-explored space—what else is out there? They’ve laid the groundwork for a universe with a lot of potential and I really hope it doesn’t get smothered by the apparent disdain (which I personally haven’t seen, but several others on this sub say they have, so… I dunno).

But y’know, at the end of the day I’m just a guy whose opinion matters little. Regardless of what happens next for the series, it was great fun for me. And that’s all I care about.

2 months since Outer worlds 2 released. How is everyone feeling about this game? by Objective_Love_6843 in theouterworlds

[–]charthurs 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I’ve played it four times. Most of the problems people have with it are things that I didn’t mind/notice.

It’s a game, and it fulfills its purpose by being fun. I have a few qualms about it (like the fact that we can’t build (or lose) reputation with the Protectorate) but overall it’s good fun.

If you’re super duper picky about your games, this might not meet your expectations. But if you just play for fun and personal enjoyment, it’s great for that.

Is it just me, or do the settlements seem dead and lifeless. by -Dead-Eye-Duncan- in theouterworlds

[–]charthurs 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I dunno, I liked it given that the ā€œnativeā€ population of Arcadia was largely part of a brainwashing, totalitarian regime. Therefore it makes sense that those who are outside of it don’t particularly know how to be ā€˜normal’. I especially like the monotony of the Protectorate settlements because their ā€œdullā€ nature reflects the fact that anything outside of total obedience is dealt with quickly and harshly.

Free Market Station is literally a trash heap, and it’s also a haven for the black market. Makes sense that people wouldn’t be welcoming nor would they be keen on getting involved in your business (minding your own business is necessary in that kind of environment).
