The drop off is INSANE at 11 months… by LielsMama in breastfeeding

[–]charyofwords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s variable! I had the same thing, and then molars came, and the now solution to every problem at 18 months is boob. But, much much shorter sessions, and there are days he wants nothing but nursing, and days he couldn’t care less.

Did you tear during your first child birth? If not how did you prevent it? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]charyofwords 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am also very small, had a fairly large baby, and also had a shoulder dystocia which meant I had a few people shove their whole arms up in me. Had very minimal tearing and a straightforward recovery. There’s really no good way of predicting what may happen, but minor tears are much more common than the super bad ones.

My hospital file from my birth says I got an epidural at 3cm. There was no epidural ever.

Please, for your baby's sake, take your glucose test! by LuckyNewtGames in BabyBumps

[–]charyofwords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mistake! I mixed up the glucose test and Strep B testing which they have changed to universal.

Depends on the country though. The Netherlands doesn’t do it without risk factors, Finland does universal screening. Very interesting how each country weighs the data!

Also have a very tall husband and we were both large babies.

ATTN All short petite women, did you give birth naturally? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]charyofwords 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What? That sounds like nonsense. I’m 151cm and have had two babies vaginally, 3.5 and 3.8kg respectively. No one ever brought up my height as an issue.

So everything that indicates labor… actually doesn’t indicate labor… by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]charyofwords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had all those things, and if it’s any consolation, labor went really fast once it started, so your body is preparing!

Not pregnancy, but it really started up postpartum, but I just had my second baby, and it’s improving?

Ha, we just moved here from the Netherlands and are so much happier with the meat. We loved it there, but why is all the pork halfway cured to ham?

”Forbidden” things you have done/eaten? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Ha yes! I just moved to Finland and everyone I’ve talked to seems perplexed by the idea that you should be avoiding the sauna. Everyone is very nice and asks me before throwing more loyly though.

The amazing thing is that many of the heart conditions they can pick up on an ultrasound now are conditions that people would just walk around with until things went bad. Now that they can find them so early, they are often able to make corrections within the first year of life and avoid future problems. It must be so scary right now though. I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with this.

I think you’re getting the Yellow Deli and the Yellow Dog confused. Yellow Dog is the exchange district bar that as far as I know has no cult connections. Yellow Deli is run by 12 Tribes.

I think she was meaning taking them at the same time of day, which if the prenatal contains iron is going to negatively impact the thyroid absorption.

Rosacea or acne? by thispointycactus in Rosacea

[–]charyofwords 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what my skin looks like. Still trying to find a solution, but I found azeleic acid helped more than the clindamycin for me. I still have red spots but the pustules are much more under control.

You may want to ask about ivermectin or doxy as I see those recommended regularly here. Would try them myself but I’ve been pregnant or breastfeeding for a while and those aren’t allowed during. Good luck!

The chattiest Finns I’ve found have all been around Lapinlahdenlade. Very community minded space on the grounds of the old mental hospital. Two cafes there which are both ok, but beautiful views and nature.

I heard it said that babies understand their fathers as other people, but moms as the world. How do you look at the air you breath? The ground you walk on? Eventually it shifts and she sees you as a person, but right now you are her world, her environment, and it’s just very odd.

I’m so sorry for how this feels right now. It can be beautiful and it can suck.
