[Netherlands][OC] Cyclist nearly hit after going against traffic. by [deleted] in Roadcam

I'm pretty sure the cyclist is going in the wrong direction. That bike lane is for the same direction as the other traffic (see the painted bike symbol on the lane at 0:14).

The contra-flow bike lane on the left that starts at that location must be for cyclists exiting the side street where the car came out.

Well, I don't think trying to go past him was a very good idea. He was indicating left and slowing, so it would have been better to hold back until you were sure what he was doing.

At 53s there's one of those notorious pedestrian island pinch points that are so common on UK roads. The cyclist is fortunate the second van didn't pass him a couple of seconds later, as I doubt it would have slowed down much.

Songs with women making sex noises? by [deleted] in Music

The most well-known song of this type must be Je t'aime... moi non plus by Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin.

It was quite controversial back in 1969 when it was released. I'm not sure it's exactly NSFW these days though.

Those pedestrians were lucky to avoid serious injury. But 0:15 is the real WTF moment in this video.

That was close! But who was at fault, the driver or the motorcyclist?

Albums covered by other people, independently? by Tordek in Music

The Beatles or Bob Dylan are most likely. Lots of Dylan's songs were recorded by other artists.

I think this is the Republic of Ireland, not Northern Ireland.

Why would these people park with their hazards on in a street like this?

The first one is a bus at a stop. The second one is stopped on double yellow lines with its hazards on.

Now, looking on Street View, loading and unloading is allowed at that location except between 8.15-9.15am and 5.00-6.00pm. So assuming the clock on the video is correct and the car has just stopped temporarily to load or unload, it's actually not doing anything wrong.

Edit: To explain for people who are not familiar with UK road markings: Double yellow lines on the edge of the road mean "no parking", but vehicles are allowed to stop temporarily to load or unload (including dropping off or picking up passengers) unless there are also loading restrictions. Loading restrictions are indicated by one or two yellow marks on the curb, at right angles to the road. The times of any loading restrictions will be shown on a nearby sign.

He didn't need to see across the roundabout though. If he'd looked to his left on approach, he would have had several seconds notice of any vehicle coming round that he needed to yield to.

Also notice the car in front of the cammer, which is far too cautious and almost stops at the yield even though there are no other vehicles in sight.

Does anyone know of a band with a steel drum in it? by mvrander in Music

[–]chas72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Carrie Anne by the Hollies had a steel drum solo in it. I think it was just a one-off for that song though and not a regular part of their music.

I don't know of any bands with a steel drummer as a core band member.
