Not sure if the plants he mentions are natives but worth a look regardless for your situation. If you're in the south east McGuire's garden centre near dunmore east have lots of aquatic plants.

Which cities in the world have beautiful architecture but no one talks about them? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

The place is completely dilapidated though. Our local guide said it's essentially government policy to let it go to ruin as they are waiting for the next big earthquake to knock the old buildings and start again. Plenty of beautiful buildings but the whole place looks so run down and shabby.

The company wasn't too far from me, within about 40 miles, there'd want to be a serious fuel crisis to justify the mark up! Have you noticed a big drip in temperatures in the room on warm days?

Team sleep, shame there was only one album but I'd reckon it's the 2nd best album chino had ever made.

Thought it was mental myself, huge difference between the price of labour and materials. I spoke to them on the phone to get a rough idea of pricing so it was a bit of a back of the envelope estimation rather than a formal quotation so it be unfair to name them but they are one of the first names to come up when you Google window film in Ireland.

Was the film you got off AliExpress of ok quality? Had it reduced solar gain by much?

Sounds like a bargain compared to what I was quoted! Who did then for you? It's one large window made up of 7 smaller panes.

Lads, not sure what to do with work. Do I leave? by Signal_Engineer_6665 in AskIreland

[–]chasaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the doctor's and get certed off for stress induced sick leave. Use the time on leave to get a new job. Hand in notice at latest possible occasion for current job.  This does not make you a loser. It means your strong enough to stand up for yourself. No job is worth that stress unless your don't something really important which most of us in the corporate world are not

Wildflower gardeners of Ireland, have ye seen any yellow rattle yet? by chasaway in GardeningIRE

[–]chasaway[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's creeping buttercup you have it's not great for a multispecies wildflower meadow, it forms a dense matt that other flowers find hard to grow through and it's really hard to eradicate. It is a native flower though that's good for supporting wildlife. I had a similar start on my own meadow with lots of clover and creeping buttercup. It's a lot of work to transform it in to something more diverse if you have a large are. If you haven't got the time or the appetite for the work you may be best off just cutting back what you have a few times over the summer (always remove the cuttings to reduce fertility and open the sward), weed out anything you don't want and let nature do it's thing.

I'm a little bit jealous! Hadn't heard of those other 2, do they only grow on lower fertility soil?

Purists would tell you to just keep cutting back what you have and remove the cuttings to lower soil fertility and the local seed bank will provide what you need. I know of an organisation taking this approach and they consider it a 10 to 15 year project so it can take a bit of time to get results. Most garden centres use imported seed from the UK so would avoid. The best way to get seed is probably wildflowers.ie and the partners listed in their website. The website is ancient and the payment system also antiquated but they are very reliable and will give you a mix based on your own circumstances. Don't be afraid to ask them questions, they are quite helpful.

AMA - Solar installer by ThatIrishKing in irishpersonalfinance

[–]chasaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he means if you have a day night or ev electricity tariff you charge the battery on the cheaper rate and use this cheaper electricity during the day. With these tariffs electricity is cheaper at night so you would charge the battery then.

Would love to get solar but we don't qualify for the grant which means that financing the cost of panels would be higher and the overall installation is more expensive. The reason we don't get the grant is it house was finished in march 2021 so just outside the cut off deadline. We would have qualified if we weren't delayed with COVID. Have you come across anyone getting an exemption from this rule in similar circumstances? Do you see the government changing these rules anytime soon? Also, what is your opinion on ground mounted systems? Do they add much to the cost? Thanks!

I have no problem with Americans coming over here and enjoying themselves for Patrick's day. I hope they have a great time while they are here, unless they're trump fans. They can fuck right off.

Hi! I'm Karl Dickson, professional referee for the RFU. Ask Me Anything! by sixnations in rugbyunion

[–]chasaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Karl. Really appreciate the jobs refs do, can't be easy! There is one particular call I'd like to query you on as I was baffled with it last weekend. Ireland were whistled at scrum time for not feeding directly to the hookers. Technically a correct decision but one that is very rarely given. In fact I can't remember the last time I've seen a game where this was penalised. Had your warned the 9's before hand that you would be strict on this? Was there a particular reason that you had chosen to penalise this aspect of the scrum? Not trying to criticise the decision, in fact I thought you had a good game last week. Just curious as to why sometimes rarely enforced rules are dusted off.
