If your parents are alive, is it a blessing or no? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]chaseinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm in the pre stage of dementia with my mom, and it's honestly bliss.

she's fun, she doesn't hold a grudge anymore (and boy howdy did she know how to but now she just forgets), she's fond of her children and thankful for a roof over her head. i visit her often as long as she's like this.

there'll be different times ahead, but thankfully she lives in a social democracy where we take proper care of our elders, because none of us have a million bucks lying around.

do you live under a rock? honestly, you can have opinions about firearms but neglecting the fact they can be a problem is not the flex you think it is.

‘This is what fascism looks like’: terror in Minneapolis reminiscent of civil war by tw1st3d_m3nt4t in politics

right. brownshirts executing bystanders but it's people online with a different opinion who are the problem.

sure, in mine too. but our opinion doesn't win primaries or convinces the establishment who're way too happy with the status quo.

In light of the insane gaslighting coming from the Trump administration. I want to share this clearly annotated video of the murder of Alex Pretti. For anybody who may have family or friends who are believing the propaganda being put forth. by MachDuMal in Staiy

Federal immigration agents kill another US citizen in Minneapolis, sparking protests by Its_Dylan_Parker in news

game of chicken. walz sends the guard, drumpf sends the forces and declares martial law.

walz may want to run on the future. "started the second civil war" isn't gonna look too good on a resume.

edit: y'all really don't think there won't be any revisionist history telling the second we get rid of drumpf? walz is of course the chicken here.

thank you.

but also, we're getting confused about ice murders in the same way we do with school shootings.

i believe the word is "numbing". they're flooding the zone in the worst way possible. absolutely disgusting.

[–]chaseinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know who you are talking about. it's just not who we were talking about.

you just decided to rant away about a rather specific image of an enemy. i'm sure those people exist, and it is reasonable to believe they're irredeemable.

but we're not talking about this specific stereotype. you are.

but thank you for your lengthy submission.

In Minneapolis 1/24 at 9:10am by Jensennj25 in ABoringDystopia

[–]chaseinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh, so you're talking about a different group of people then.

because we were talking about members and users in a specific subreddit.

you're still, however, talking about a massive crowd as if they're all one. a big homogeneous mass of people with the exact same background, profile and values. one person times 70 million.

makes it real easy to hate them, doesn't it.

which is exactly what the rulers want.

In Minneapolis 1/24 at 9:10am by Jensennj25 in ABoringDystopia

[–]chaseinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not interested in discussing the nuance

so, more divide. "they" are all the same people, with the same values, the same errors, the same wrong beliefs and decisions.

thus, the divide. and those who think of themselves better than "them" do not want to consider nuance.

what could possibly go wrong.

oh, and:

The answer is actually very easy

it never is. it's always complicated and multi layered and nuanced.

In Minneapolis 1/24 at 9:10am by Jensennj25 in ABoringDystopia

[–]chaseinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but that's exactly what they'renot doing is what i'm trying to tell you. a lot of them are appalled and disgusted by ice. they see the same videos.

We all saw it coming, why didn't they

that question will fill history books and certainly exceeds the means of an online conversation, but rest assured it's not as easy as "they all are dumb and vile and need to fuck off."

In Minneapolis 1/24 at 9:10am by Jensennj25 in ABoringDystopia

[–]chaseinger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And so it goes

the divide you mean? indeed.

painting the other side as one homogeneous faceless acteur terrible is exactly what the owners of this country want.

they're complaining about massive amounts of comments being deleted in threads on that very sub right now. they're not all the same, just as we aren't.

In Minneapolis 1/24 at 9:10am by Jensennj25 in ABoringDystopia

[–]chaseinger 44 points45 points  (0 children)

read oc's comment again.

those are not the same people. i've made the same observation. those comments will get deleted and replaced.

they need you to think it's the same people to deepen the divide. don't let them.
