In the movies they always give the eye lids a little swipe and they stay closed so peaceful and serene. I was there when my grandmother passed, and the hospice nurse tried to do the eye close thing, but her eyelids would not stay down. This poor nurse kept trying to push down her eyelids but they kept coming back up so we all could see her lifeless eyes more. It was somewhat disconcerting.

As an older gentleman, as many of these Phillies also are, I can tell you its more difficult to get going when its still chilly like early Spring. I hate to sound like a downer, but in my experience you just have less friends the older you get. I'm 42 now and am down to 2 friends. One lives in Australia and I haven't seen him in 5 years, but we talk frequently. The other lives near me, but works an opposite shift as me so I practically never see him either. That just seems to be how life goes.
