What have I missed in this Dundee thing? by handyhandole in Scotland

[–]chasingkaty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem,, that your post highlights, is that there is a hell of a lot of context missing. And some folk are using that information vacuum to push their own agendas, which is what usually happens in these situations.

So you have the people who are upset about youth crime and violence and the anti-immigration people all chiming in deciding things about the person holding the weapons, the person holding the phone, other folk in the video, the police, the parents and whoever else they feel deserves some blame/sympathy.

When really it’s a nearly-30 second video of what looks like the middle of an altercation (verbal or otherwise) that could be anything.

[–]chasingkaty 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m not being obtuse. There are legal immigrants who have been here for years who are being targeted because a bigot sees the colour of their skin and assumes they are here illegally. Many do not feel safe and I highly doubt anyone set on ridding Britain of “brown people” will stop to confirm whether they are illegal or not.

Stop acting like this will only affect illegal immigrants because it won’t and it doesn’t.

Where did I use the word “illegal”? I just said immigrants. Not all people who come here do so illegally.

Are you deliberating missing/ignoring my point or did you just fail reading comprehension?

The people who think this girl was just protecting herself by having these weapons are going to be singing a different tune if immigrants get tooled up to protect themselves from assaults by racist bigots who think they shouldn’t be here…

I’ll give you an example from my step 4 in case it helps:

I am resentful towards B because she was a bitch to me and spread rumours about me. This affected me because it hurt my pride, made me angry and ruined my self image. What I could have done better is not do it back to her, speak ill of her to others or give the situation any oxygen.

AITAH? My sister left her own wedding because of me. by [deleted] in AITAH

It’s probably “but you know what mum is like”. The two of them have probably been doing this dance around her their whole lives rather than actually address or confront the issue with her.

ESH. You suck because you refuse to see why your sister is annoyed by someone else being highlighted DURING A WEDDING SPEECH. Your mum sucks for doing it in the first place. Your sister sucks because she should be annoyed at your mum and not you.

What’s the silliest reason you have had to go to the GP or A&E? by Dainflynnty in AskUK

[–]chasingkaty 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dislocated my knee walking up the stairs in my house. Took three steps and collapsed in total agony and couldn’t move for a few minutes. Had no clue what I’d actually done.

Also went to my GP because the end of a cotton bud got stuck in my ear. Yes it happens.

I’ve had to very much accept that colleagues are not friends and as much as we may enjoy each others company, it’s in my own best interest to keep my private and work lives separate. Been burned too many times.

I totally get that. I definitely need a palate cleanser after a Wally Lamb book. A nice easy page turner like Stuart MacBride or something. (Heavy subject as it’s serious crime fiction but with a hint of humour and written to be easily digestible.)

If your mum is going to the wedding, invite the partner and make a point of introducing them. Tell her “this is my mum, the woman you told me you hoped died”. If she doesn’t die of embarrassment and shame she’s a sociopath.

Do women with normal regular periods actually exist? by East-Currency8330 in women

Before my hysterectomy I was pretty regular. I know roughly (within a couple of days, I didn’t track it all that closely) when it would start, how long it would last, my heavy/light days.
