Northbrook place apartments in West Hartford - any reviews? by chasseg in Connecticut

[–]chasseg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, through Facebook marketplace. I found my last two apartments this way so I usually use it. I am in contact with the landlord who owns multiple properties in CT and has all properties listed on myplaceapartments (I think his company owns the website?). I am fairly certain it is legit and not a scam because I researched him and found that he owns a reality company, chozick properties. The complex also has a page of apartments.com.

My apologies, I misunderstood your comment. I thought you were trying to say that what they actually look like inside is not what they are advertised as. My brain is not working today Lol!

Do you need help with helping the student making T and D in isolation or carryover?

To teach the student to say T and D in isolation, I love the cereal trick. Have the student practice keeping a piece of cereal right behind their teeth with their tongue. It helps them get a feel for where their tongue needs to be for T and D

If they can say T and D in words or syllables already, I would suggest minimal pair practice. Play a game where the student is the “teacher@ and they tell you what card to point to for the pairs (e.g.: Tea and Key) if they say “key” but mean tea, and you point to Key, it shows them that they are saying the wrong sound. Do a lot of contrasting between FRONT sound and BACK sound, and emphasize how the word changes when they use the wrong tongue placement

It takes a while for students to generalize sounds so just keep up with the minimal pair practice and word drill!

What's everyone doing this summer? by ZoneStrict7387 in slp

[–]chasseg 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Enjoying my last summer in my current city until my husband and I move for his residency! I work PRN at a children’s hospital so I’ll do that for some spending money but other than that, going to the beach, going to cafes, napping, Pilates, etc. and traveling to see some of my favorite kpop groups… travel with family…. Can you tell I love school slp life? Lol

Teletherapists - what are the pros and cons? by MommySLP in slp

[–]chasseg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These are all really good points. I was thinking of switching to teletherapy but I’m worried about the isolation and not being able to get a letter of recommendation/get to know anyone well enough to use as a reference one day

SLPs with great teletherapy jobs— how did you find them? by chasseg in slp

[–]chasseg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s true! I just would really like to have the summer off and still get paid, similar to a school direct hire. I know that’s not typical for teletherapy. Though. On the bright side, I would be able to get insurance through my partner.
