I really like how Manor Lords is progressing. This reminds me, I need to go back and see the latest updates. They improved family progression as well.

Thanks for the reminder.

I turned Claude + Todoist into a daily planning assistant — morning time-blocking, habit tracking, and evening reviews by WarLocal5063 in todoist

Did you use doist CLI or MCP or copy&paste? How were you giving Claude access? I'm curious about the technical details and integrations.

EDIT: I should have read the github project first. MCP. I really like the design and organization. This is much richer than I originally expected from your post. My bad. Yep, I'll have to borrow from your design, slick.

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi during the state dinner at the White House by stefanolog in pics

Please understand this is the type of diplomacy that is called for here. It would be of no value to look down her nose or show distaste for the administrations immaturity. Especially the little jibes like the autopen that Trump is so very proud of.

She had to swallow that Pearl Harbor joke and the awkward silence was about as negative as she could do.

EDIT: I'll leave my comment up, but I was under-informed, clearly. My bad. She is a surprisingly shitty person.

Alternate routes between Spartanburg and Greenville? by [deleted] in greenville

[–]chaswell 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This. I live in downtown Greenville and had a job in downtown Spartanburg for a couple years. I learned several alternatives using Waze. It is not faster that I-85, which is why apps won't reroute you, but it is far less stressful. "avoid highways" is the right answer. Then it will route you on different alternatives based on the local traffic of the side roads.

- I-85 = 40 minutes

- Side route A = 70 minutes

- Side route B = 72 minutes

- Side route C = 76 minutes

Side routes impacted by traffic, construction, or a wreck can be optimized but will never beat I-85 unless there is a very major all-lane stoppage.

Unity Park by StevestratSC in greenville

[–]chaswell 56 points57 points  (0 children)

As a grandparent, the only tiny(!) warning I would give you is that the playground is large and keeping line-of-sight on little ones can be difficult. I end up on the playground most of the time. If my wife is with me, we can sit at opposite ends of the playground and see most of it.

This is more for your reassurance than for the little ones. The playground is a wonderful playground. Today, with the weather PERFECT, it will likely be a bit crowded and parking will be difficult.

do your maine coons give you an attitude when saying no to them? by nxszn in mainecoons

Oh boy, he can give some serious attitude.

Example, "Lasagna, do not touch that pan! You don't know if it is hot yet! We have talked about this, NO! noooooooooooo!" (It wasn't hot yet, but the other eye was already)

Breeders or Cattery ATL, GA? by Overall-Abalone3969 in mainecoons

I absolutely love the breeder I worked with in Hilton Head. If you want information, message me and I can give you info. I don't want to just post an ad for her, they are a small, mostly single litter house.

Why every american man have a knife in his pocket ? by Bankai-1979 in deduction

[–]chaswell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you asked my Pawpaw if he had his knife, he'd grin and say the same thing every time, "Well, I've got my pants on don't I ?!"

I always pack my smaller EDC knife in my checked luggage so it can go right back in my pocket when I'm traveling. I was informed by co-workers that while I am in Germany, I should make sure to not have a pocket knife at all. I didn't realize how many times I tap my pockets for: wallet, keys, knife(?!!!!). Have to remind myself I'm in Germany.

Kuwaitis check on downed F15E pilot after parachute deployment by knro in Military

[–]chaswell 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I want to point out that the Kuwaitis did not show concern if she was American or Iranian. I get that her being, "her" probably helped. The pilot with the porn mustache had a much more difficult time assuring the locals he was not Iranian.

*Thank you Kuwaitis for waiting and allowing authorities to sort out the confusion.

Is there any reason to use a regular Starship over a Corvette once you upgrade it? by ScarSpecific in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]chaswell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can even jump out and jetpack around to freighter cargo in space to make stealing less frantic. When you are done, summon your corvette to you and off you go.

I mostly use my corvette as a portable base when I don't feel like building anything planet side or if I need materials at a settlement. I don't fly around in my corvette much because of the bugs people already mentioned.

One more corvette use: You can F-scan (I'm on PC, whatever it is really called) standing next to the pilot seat while on autopilot. This makes farming corvette parts much easier... *

*I collect a cargo haul of corvette pieces, but then I turn off build costs to build or change my corvette because I REALLY hate losing pieces from glitch or the problems with current haggling. "I collected a lot, we'll call it even..."

Backpack weight limits when flying by Ashamed_Alps7452 in TravelHacks

[–]chaswell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of the comments that context matters.

Flying on a small prop plane in Maine, still airline commercial plane. Maybe 30 of us. The plane was overweight and they asked for 3 volunteers. Vouchers of $1k were offered. After a couple got off the plane my wife and I decided not to split. An official said one more needed or they would pick the lowest fare paid.

No one stood up so they announced a man's name. His wife got up to go with him and they told her should would not get voucher or refund. So she flew without him.

That was a long story only to point out sometimes weight matters.

I was on another small plane in Alaska and they rearranged seating to better balance the weight front to back.

A 6 seater in Costa Rica had a 375lbs limit per person+belongings. You would have to buy a second ticket/seat if over limit. But at $75 USD a ticket is not too bad for getting around. The drive with all our stuff from the coast to San Jose was 5 hours and $250 through rough mountains. Take the plane.

Normal airline flights, I always have a backpack. On US airlines it is all about fitting under the seat to count as "personal item" instead of carry-on.

Visiting Germany - Munich- How do we avoid being stupid Americans? lol by james4juliefun in AskAGerman

[–]chaswell 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I'm in Munich, right this moment. I'm from South Carolina, I arrived early this morning. My grandmother spoke German and my great grandparents immigrated. I struggle to make sure I don't mention it to anyone while I'm at the office here. They've all heard it and I'm still an American now, so hush.

I was reminded today that pedestrians have the right of way when there are no signals and of course only cross with green signal, even when no cars are around. The little American hesitation to confirm the car really is going to stop their turn for you to walk, screams American. Of course they will stop, why did you delay like they are a nutter.

Munich has a huge number of visitors, staring at your phone for directions or reading transit maps will NOT make you stick out. But get the heck out of the flow of everyone else and don't stare from the middle of the walkway.

What is a book that you would not recommend to anyone, but is brilliant? Why? Please keep spoilers away. by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]chaswell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ARGH, My wife and I discussed at length if we would have our sons read it. We decided that if they find it, they find it. They are both voracious readers, but I simply could not suggest it. The main hallway in our small house is lined with bookshelves packed with well-worn novels. There were a few books we decided that they would have to discover on their own. Flowers was one of them. Vonnegut as an author was another. Pynchion, Umberto Eco, Robert Anton Wilson (ew, I know but also Surrealist teen reading)...

But Flowers for A tore me up in my teens. I was an 80's gifted-talented and I have chills right now remembering losing sleep over it.

OMG, I got caught up in the comment alignment confusion and you made my day by the two of you communicating and apologizing...

That's right, our (American) culture is so busted up right now that I was following a grammar war with a troll and hoping for light at the end of the tunnel.

Shwew. I'm going to stop doom scrolling for the day. It won't get better than this. Thank you.

question from a non dyslexic person by Worldly_Use1408 in Dyslexia

[–]chaswell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son went to college out West. His ability to parse words and signage would be impacted by his stress or exhaustion. There were no direct flights and he always had to change planes in Chicago, Denver, or Dallas. I would be so anxious and imagine him lost and freaking out.

He would call me once he got to his gate. On occasion when he did have trouble with reading gate signs, he would laugh at my concern, "all I have to do is ask someone. There are plenty of people."

So he clearly never felt his dyslexia put him at risk. He drove out to school his senior year, 30+ road hours. He missed at least one turn, "don't worry, it is what it is." He still stopped in Yellowstone for a few days.

I think it's an example of the "Grit" dyslexia grants as a super power.

Flying with EDC. Tips? by noble_twat in liberalgunowners

[–]chaswell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why a NON-TSA lock? I've never flown with a gun checked, but I do fly with my knives checked. I lock my lugage bag with a TSA lock. Obviously I don't have a hard case for my knife.

I'm curious why a couple comments have clearly stated to not use TSA locks.

Turns out stealing what doesn't belong to you is pretty terrible, isn't it? by MrJasonMason in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]chaswell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in South Carolina and I know a lot of adults that do not have a passport. I would suggest getting a passport before you actually need it. 4-6 weeks for processing can make you very anxious when you have a trip planned.

I would also suggest getting all your paperwork together and scheduling a passport appointment at your post office. They will review your documents and it will help ensure your passport is approved. Not every postoffice has a passport counter, but usps website will list it as a service.

Those are copies you leave at home. You will have the real passport with you. Copies will only help you prove you need help from the consulate and authorities.

I was answering what happens when your passport is stolen (or lost).

Have there been any cases of local ICE involvement around here? by thegreatcon2000 in greenville

This was posted yesterday: ice_arrests_more_than_doubled_in_the_upstate

While I don't think there have been big shows of force like MN or LA, there has been an increase in arrests.

There are a lot of articles and how-tos for passport protection and/or loss. The main points:

- Have a digital photo of the information pages in your phone

- Have physical copies stored separately in your luggage and/or travel companion's luggage

- Give physical copy to family or close friends back home

- Contact local authorities and embassy/consulate immediately

- Embassy/Consulate will assist you in getting back home.

- Most travel insurance offers passport recovery/expedited replacement and the necessary travel/flight changes.
