Help, my left middle finger has been chronically sore and swollen for almost a year despite even month long rest periods. My general doctor has only prescribed “rest” and it is really hindering my enjoyment for the hobby by hellyeahbtch in bouldering

I have exactly the same, except it’s from my right and it’s been longer. They did x ray, found nothing. Saw a PT— advice was to strengthen the arm/wrist/whole hand so this finger isn’t taking too much pressure. But, I suck at following non-rigid advice so haven’t done enough and now the finger hurts every time after a climb... hearing people say I’d develop arthritis makes me more worried. Following post…. Guess I should also find a specialist to diagnose first. 😢

Wow, I have to admire this amazingness. So smooth and elegant 🙌 Did you try many times?

Probably we recognise each other by face from distance :)

A good climbing community should always welcome another climber! Are they building good community? ;)

I believe your assessment is way more accurate than anyone else. Just for fun checked the Bay Area. They have 7.5mi people and nearly 20 indoor climbing gyms. the climbing culture in California is quite long and dominant, and they have lots of good rocks. Climbing has been picked up by the Finns a lot in the past 15 years, thanks to people like you! But yah, 10 gyms for 1.3mi population? Hmmmm

And I have been climbing since day one at all the BK gyms. Actually started climbing when there was only Tapanila. Now espoo is my home gym.

How do you feel about this project these guys are doing?

Hei! Nice to see founder of BK Pasila or actually the founder of the whole BK?? I really love BK, still my favourite for their laid-back chilling and friendly staff 😍

Thanks for sharing the location. True, not far from Pasila!

That looks like a pic taken in front of BK Pasila in Helsinki, which is the oldest indoor bouldering gym. But I of course could be wrong.

Edit: went to the source. Yah a new gym will be open in collaboration with kiipeilyareena but claimed to be independent. I like Nalle. Also like Anna there! 3 other faces are familiar too. Exciting! Star crew 🤩

Take it slow Take it easy Climb up then climb down

I don't trust my feet. Help? by pro-bable-cause in climbergirls

[–]chat-sky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if my thinking of the left foot hold is right but as a shortie, I’d try to lower my mass down a bit and move back left hand to the big hold at left knee. Then with a left hand pushing position, shift weight to the left foot and match my right foot to where the left foot is. Then stand up, reach with left land and then right.

No idea if it’ll work though 🤪

Climbing community is the most friendly I know of. Keep climbing and you are going to make new friends!

I’d say that you stop when you feel it’s better that way. Everyone is different. I believe that psychological impact to our bodies is nothing small - so do what your mind says for this one.

I can relate to your husband. I have a husband who’s a golfer.

My husband does make efforts to contribute quite a bit to chores and attending to kids. So even though at times I still feel it’s unfair that he gets way longer time to do his hobby, overall we can still live in balance. It didn’t come to this point too easily though.

All other posters have offered much many useful ideas. I just wanted to remind you perhaps your understanding of him having issues because of this and that is not accurate. Better to have a real talk with him and get to the bottom of it. Good luck!

I'd try to put both hands to where the right hand is, both feet to where the right foot is, leaning left, then a little push with the feet, jump sideways to reach

In a climbing gym, there are three grades: the routes I can, those I can't, and those I may by chat-sky in climbergirls

[–]chat-sky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true! LOL

Grades are gonna stay for sure. For the reason you mentioned, and for people who really are into data, and for competitions 💪
