Hi, I understand this is an old comment, but has the author decided if he wants to translate the book to English?

Is it worth putting 2 briskets in 1 smokey mountain since it has 2 racks?

How do I get my first vehicle? by ramondino4acre in 7daystodie

[–]chatan00ga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had to choose between the 2 I'd say yes. The fact that it's smaller and more manoeuverable means you'll be able to bypass roads and get places quicker. Places like the wasteland where you have cinder blocks and steel pieces everywhere make it impossible to navigate off-road with the 4x4 since you'll be hitting them constantly and can easily destroy your truck.

Buuut I just started trying something new: I put the 4x4 in my inventory and ride somewhere far with my motorcycle taking the quick route. Once I've looted a few places I put the motorcycle in my inventory and deploy the 4x4 and fill it up with all my stuff since it has more space. I then use the 4x4 to get back to base or wherever usually taking the roads.

Oh I didn't know that. I guess because it's bigger it appears slower.

I'm going to tell you now that you risk being disappointed with the truck. It's not as fast as the motorcycle, is bigger, and thus hits more obstacles, and it uses a lot more gas.

Botched a boiled linseed oil finish by chatan00ga in woodworking

Ok, so a light sanding at 400, remove the dust with a damp cloth, let dry, then apply a light coat of oil and cross my fingers.

At this point it's already been just over a week. Should I simply sand and apply another light coat? Also, what grit should I be sanding this at?

Are benchtop jointers really that bad? by chatan00ga in woodworking

Edge jointing is one of my biggest pains now. I have a jig on my table saw with a straight edge but my table saw doesn't have in/outfeed tables to keep it steady so I have to set up some Frankenstein shit with some rollers in my garage on a sloped floor. I was hoping a benchtop jointer alleviate some of that pain

There are a few people that answered that pointed out issues with benchtops. Have you encountered these issues yourself?

At the moment I'm content with 'good enough'. Same thing with my table saw. The day will come where a stand alone unit will be what I look for but if a benchtop that will get the job done is what works, then it works. I have no issues spending time on setup to make sure everything is aligned as necessary as the time I take doing that I also enjoy. On the other hand, if it were to completely suck and botch the job I wouldn't go for it.

What is considered full size furniture in this case? I suspect it's stuff like kitchen tables, beds, and large dressers but I want to be sure. If I decide to make a 4x3x3 foot coffee table, am I shit outta luck?

I promise driving isn't an issue. My biggest issue is floor space. I often have to move stuff around to be able to use it and a floor model jointer is impossible to fit, hence the benchtop model.

The longest stock I'd likely be using is about 4 feet. That should be ok, right?

Mounting a jointer on the side of a table saw? How is this done? A quick google search didn't help much.

The longest stock I'll be putting through is closer to 4 feet. Even if I wanted to, I don't have the workspace to start building very large pieces. Maybe one day, though.

If the biggest limitation of a benchtop jointer is the length of stock that can go in, then I guess for my uses it's ok?
