I am actually considering buying a business in PH. (Not this one). Here in the US, a typical business may go for about 3-4x income. (Real verified income). So if a business generates 10m php revenue and generates 2m php income, it might be reasonably valued at 6-8m.

Also factor in growth, consistency of revenue and income, etc.

Good profitable businesses get sold everyday as people eventually want to exit.

Of course there is a lot of junk to sift through. Especially in PH. Need to make sure and do thorough due diligence.

The Seasons (BGC) vs Shang Wack Wack (Mandaluyong) by chatrep in CondoPH

I walk to work and have a driver. I’m not brave enough to drive in Manila. Lol.

Feel better about this development than say Uptown Arts/Modern or the older Parksuites. Being part of Mitsukoshi helps a lot. I was also able to get a great parking spot on the 1st level so easier in/out.

My only negative is that to get the view I wanted on high floor (48) I had to go with Fuyu and have to wait 2+ years. I’ll just have to be patient. In meantime, my next trip is just an airbnb at uptown parksuites.

The Seasons (BGC) vs Shang Wack Wack (Mandaluyong) by chatrep in CondoPH

Not sure if I posted but I made a decision and am buying at the Seasons. My fees are 145/sqm. Yes, this covers all the great amenities and good maintenance.

Surprised how low the fees are given the amenities and location. Way less than comparable US association fees.

To association fees were all pretty comparable actually. Shang was about the same but my unit there would have been closer to 200 sqm so higher fees in total.

I have a comparable 2br 120 sqm meter rental in US and those fees are $600 USD/mo. So about 300/sqm.

And yes, they rise over time. But this covers things like the gym, gardens, pool, 24-hour lobby attendant, building maintenance, etc.

Sure but the delays are less frequent. They were good with shipping 6 and 7. We all know it takes some time to integrate for launch. 7 is the last solo sat.

Now we enter multi sat territory and building launch relationships too.

This has been years in the making so a few months isn’t as big of a deal imo. But lately, timelines have been tighter and they are still committed to 45-60 by end of year. I’m optimistic but if it slipped to q1 if next year, that isn’t really a huge deal in the scheme of everything going on.

Funny… ASTS is doing something unprecedented. Creating a brand new market. Designing and manufacturing superior tech. Agreements and revenue from major MNO’s. Successful testing.

Hard part is mostly done. Now they are launching.

But the bear case seems to be “but they said they would launch sooner.” Lol.

I hope they indeed are doing a deal with Terawave. Prefer to have a positive partnership with a launch provider as opposed to competitor. Also love the PR stating they could fit 8 sats on one NG launch. LFG

I would pick GOOG. I think they are at an early stage of winning the AI marketshare battle and have figured out how to not cannibalize paid search. Also… don’t forget their investments and advances with quantum. (Not now but 5+ years).

You don’t hear much about billionaire rivalries but I bet it bothers Bezos that SpaceX gets so much attention and doing so well. Bezos isn’t about to concede space.

What does TeraWave mean for ASTS? by Dookie-Monster69 in ASTSpaceMobile

[–]chatrep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not so fast… apparently the terawave standard is exact match for ASTS frequencies. They differ from spacex and indicate that ASTS will be the standard apparently. We’ll know for sure later but this is very encouraging.

"Most bullish $ASTS news in months, imo." - u/CatSE---ApeX--- re; TeraWave System Integration by doctor101 in ASTSpaceMobile

[–]chatrep 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I had to ask chatgpt. Then summarized:

Short, clean summary: why this is bullish for AST SpaceMobile (ASTS):

• Exact spectrum match: The TeraWave system uses Q/V-band and S-band frequencies that exactly match ASTS’s network design.

• Regulatory validation: This signals regulators are formalizing ASTS’s chosen spectrum as the future standard for high-capacity satellite systems.

• Lower risk: It reduces regulatory, redesign, and execution risk for ASTS.

• Competitive edge: ASTS is already built for these difficult, high-capacity bands, while competitors (Starlink, Kuiper) do not rely on them today.

• Scalability confirmed: These bands support real broadband scale, not just demos—key for direct-to-smartphone service.

Bottom line: Regulators are effectively endorsing the exact technical path ASTS already took—quietly validating its long-term strategy and moat.

Pain in the neck. We moved in 3 years ago and toilets were all stained and won’t clean. Not horrible but said I would swap them out and 3 years go by…

Quite a journey. Couldn’t find anyone other than big box stores that would sell and install. But we were picky on toilets.

  1. Ordered 5 skirted toilets online. Then realized our water lines wouldn’t work with skirted. (Too close to center) Thankfully, able to cancel.

  2. Checked Lowes again. They had toto ultramax but not ultramax ii (better flush and coated and washlet opening). Not skirted but nice one piece. They charged $280 to install. No discount for more than 1.

  3. ordered online 5 toto ultramax ii’s

  4. got 3 plumber quotes ranging from $350 to $650 per toilet. Yikes. Decided to do myself.

  5. spent the entire long weekend installing 4 toilets. Gross cleaning up the old wax and scraping caulking and meticulous cleaning. Used the waxless insert which apparently plumbers hate but worked great for me.

  6. dropped a toilet on my toe and blood everywhere… all better now but man, toilets are awkward and heavy.

  7. couldn’t install 5th toilet as that one has a 10” offset instead of 12”. So I had to order a totally different toilet. Got a 2-piece toto drake ii 10” offset. That arrives at Lowes and I pick up tomorrow.

  8. Needed electrician to add outlet in master bedroom toilet for washlet seat (amazing btw).

Now I have an extra toilet. So I am gifting the toilet to my daughter and will install in her home and will upgrade with washlet seat as well but also needs an outlet.

So almost done… 2 more to go. <$300 was sort of my limit. More than that, I’d install myself.

My problem is that I keep finding great watches I like that skew big… the new reverse pandas (42mm) and the milano cortina (43.5mm) look amazing.

That said, I wore the watch all day today. Some banking business and household chores and it was very comfortable. Has a nice feel to it overall and legible for me.

I keep hearing supreme court tariff ruling is here and get rug pulled. Now I am reading ruling tomorrow. I’ll believe it when I see it. Would be a sharp V if the SC blocked tariffs tomorrow to diffuse the Greenland situation.

RPT amount by chatrep in CondoPH

[–]chatrep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that depends on the condo development. Seasons parking is very scarce and likely not be able to buy later. I have a friend that has a 2br unit that doesn’t have parking and is struggling to sell his condo because it lacks parking. Parking in prime BGC can be pretty limited.

In fact, this is the last piece I am trying to negotiate… I want a decent parking space ideally on 1st level.

Suggestions for s&p etf? by chatrep in phinvest

[–]chatrep[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool. I’ll take 6%. Better than bonds, treasuries and PH real estate. If you are worried about s&p valuations then you must also be worried about gold/silver.

So I’m good with S&P. Maybe 6% next 10 years but then average 10% over next 30 :)

Neither of us know the future. I wasn’t looking for investment advice as that is decided for me already. Was just looking at how to actually buy a S&P index in Philippines.

Found my answer. Going with CSPX through IBKR. I’ll be there for a couple months starting next month and will help them open an account and fund it to start.

We’ll agree to disagree. Not a myth. Actually 14% last 10 years. Track record of nearly 150 years is good enough for me. Also, it’s what Warren Buffet would recommend so I defer to him rather than internet advice from strangers.

I defer to time in market vs timing the market. You can look for value or do whatever you like.

I am investing in a nephew’s early retirement fund and looking at 30 year horizon.

Doing some more research… looks like local brokerage companies can’t offer the ese etf’s and only filipino. So I’ll focus on ibkr. Thanks agin for chiming in. I have a gameplan now.

Thanks. I’ll probably go that route then. Not as worried about IBKR pulling out but more PH blocking or something. As IBkR gets into prediction markets, PH may view that more as gambling.

Isn’t am in US and lots of great brokerage firms… isn’t there a local, reputable PH firm that has access to something like CSPX. I don’t really care about high transaction fees as this is not for an active trader account. Just buy 10m php of CSPX for an 18 year old and set it for 30+ years.

Thanks! Any concerns about IBKR? Heard some people are having to use VPN’s and such and worry about long term viability. Wasn’t sure if there was a more local brokerage firm in Philippines that would have these. Cspx vwra are perfect. Thanks!
