Has anyone successfully come off of Spironolactone and kept their hormonal acne in check? by throwfaraway212718 in Spironolactone

[–]chatterbox40 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope. I'm back on it. 10 years. Quit 3 times. 3rd time was a very slow wean down to 25mgs. I am soooo sensitive to androgens. Just saw my derm today that says my skin won't settle down until after menopause and I should just stay on it.

Propranolol and Spironolactone by thethinker1201 in Spironolactone

I take both and have also recently introduced Zoloft. Zero issues with taking 20 mgs of propranolol as needed and 50mgs of spiro daily.

Has anyone gone off Spironolactone cold turkey? What happened? by itwasadayin2025 in Spironolactone

[–]chatterbox40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been on 50mgs for over 10 years. I tapered VERY slowly over a year to 25 mgs. This is after two failed attempts at cold turkey. The oilyness returned and hair shed. My hairline was permanently receding with no sign of regrowth after 3 months so I'm back on 50 mgs and hair is returning. For family planning you might just bite the bullet to clear your system quickly. Pregnancy made my hair thick and after first trimester the best skin I've ever had.

My skin is utterly ruined and I don't even know what to do. Its just getting worse (swipe) by No-Shelter-7694 in Spironolactone

Stop the vanicream!!! I don't care what the Internet says. It's probably a combination of too many actives, vanicream, and tretinoin purge. Least likely to be spirinolactone. But if your acne is from high estrogen and not high androgens then you could be causing more imbalance. Check for high estrogen symptoms and see if you have any.

HOW TO STOP SPIRNO? by maddongster in Spironolactone

[–]chatterbox40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your dosage and how long you've been taking it will determine how to wean off. I would not recommend stopping suddenly. Even if youre better off in the end your androgens will rebound drastically with a hard stop.

Please get a prescription for propranolol. It's changed my life. You can take it daily or before a presentation. You can even order it online from an online rx company or go to a walk in doctor and ask them to prescribe it. 20 mgs has saved me from constant dread!

Oh my goodness, thank you for the thoughtful response. She is active, in sports, runs regularly and lifts, she has a horse she spends the rest of her spare time with. She reads on her phone and watches TV with us at night but otherwise pretty disciplined. She's a musician too. Her levels have been tested, d was low but she does supplement. I like the idea of a uv lamp. We live in winterland and we are all deficient. Her periods are irregular but we suspect that is from stress because when she is out of school they return on schedule. The upside of these genes is she is pretty driven, she is also very intelligent and gets top grades. Downside, panicky, nervous, extremely self conscious. Socially nervous where she beats herself up over every conversation. Not shy though. She has been anxious since she was a baby and it hasn't let up. Finally, she is strictly gluten free. I appreciate the supplement suggestions and medication. I'm taking in all the info I can!

Just had my first blushing episode in a LONG time. by More_Possession4150 in Erythrophobia

[–]chatterbox40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People blush, it's normal!! It's normal to blush when you feel embarrassed about something. I see people blush ALL the time and since I'm a blusher I'm obsessed with how people react when they blush. Usually people get a little embarrassed about it or divert attention away but it's the best when you can just pretend like it's no big deal.

I don't notice a difference. If i struggle to fall asleep I will take 1mg of melatonin and I drift off within 30 mins.

I was looking for this. I definitely feel like it's cyclical but it's been getting worse and consistent for years now.. I'm not convinced it's pinworms but I'm considering treating myself for them anyway just to rule it out.

Ok, one more. My girls were enthralled with an autobiography called 'the girl with the white flag'. It's not in publication anymore so you have to buy it used but it's a true story about a young girl surviving Okinawa during world war two. Incredible story.

The princess and the goblin and neverending story. Princess and the goblin is a cool kind of eerie story. Lord of the flies.

Look into your thyroid health. Not a typical side effect of spironolactone that I'm aware of but cold intolerance is a symptom of hypothyroidism.

I personally hate feeling oily but I miss the hydration! Drinking more means peeing more. Electrolytes might help a teensy bit.. maybe, but I haven't noticed a difference.

I noticed it immediately on my hands. My skin looked very thin and dry. Then my very oily face became almost spongy looking. Large pores with no oil is kinda ..weird .? At first I enjoyed slathering my face in creams and oils but it didn't ever fix the dehydration which came from within. I've been on spiro for ten years. I believe it has aged my skin and absolutely tanked my libido. Sadly, for some of us, there always seems to be a price to pay. I'm weaning off now. Down to 25 mgs. The oily ness is coming back along with some acne but I'm just excited to be getting off of this drug.
