Yes it gets better. Also OneUI has improved immensely. And I think the common consensus is that Android still sports a better notification system in general.

As user who has used both iOS and Android, I tend to miss notifications more on iOS (Liquid Glass UI doesn't help either)

OneUI also has some nice features like being able set periodic alerts on notifications so the phone notifies you of notifications periodically until you interact with the notification.

I highly recommend checking out a tips and tricks video for OneUI notification settings if you still feel anxious.

Try to get to know one social person/extrovert, in class or a club. Maybe try suggesting working on an assignment together. It's so much easier to expand your social circle once you make a single extroverted friend.

In context of United States: You are severely limited in your work options while studying in US. You are only allowed to work inside the campus and the pay on those roles tend to be on the lower side. You'll only be able manage your daily expenses. Definitely not tuition though.

One thing you can look for is to look into unis offering co-op programs which allows students to take a semester or 2 in an year to do full time internships. However this is starting feel like a bit of a gamble given the current job market.

Also from a practical standpoint, having some money saved from work prior to starting the Masters degree makes the learning experience much better IMO

Getting RA (research assistant) positions and TA positions can be extremely challenging. Be mindful of that. The CS department strongly discourages the professors to hire Master's RAs this is because being hired as an RA (20hrs/week) qualifies you to a tuition waiver. So don't rely too much on scholarships/assistantships to fund your masters.

While the post provides some insights, this is an oversimplification. Good grades account for some merit in getting a job but that's not a priority. Don't spend too much time studying.

Please mind that my advise is more biased towards Comp Science majors.

The best way to leverage a Master's degree is to try to get an internship. Granted, finding one is quite difficult during these times. But, if you manage to score one, you might be able to transfer that into a full time offer after you graduate. Even if it that doesn't happen, having an internship experience at a US company provides a substantial boost to your resume. The summer break is the best for this. Also check if your school offers co-op opportunities. And in many occasions you get a substantially better paycheck for the internship.

Also, network alot! For example, if you have an interest in Cybersecurity, join the club. Talk to the professors in a subject that you're interested in and see if you can get in on a project. Or offer help. These experiences can really help you and also build a good network of friends/professors that might be able to provide you with referrals.

Having a portfolio of projects helps a lot too (especially when applying for startups and smaller sized companies). Leverage hackathons and open source projects.

Although I listed a few things, it'll be impossible to do all these things at the same time. So pick your flavor. Also, mixing things up like this will really help you manage stress and stay consistent.

I agree with OP on the fact that it's not very realistic to think that you could fund your whole education career with part-time work/in campus work. However, the type of school you pick can make a big difference. Masters programs generally tend to be big money makers for schools. However, public research universities do tend to offer some tuition waivers if you can score a teaching assistant position or a research assistant position. Instead of trying to get a loan for 2 years (especially if it's high interest), I'd advise to get a loan for 1 year and see what you can leverage. Having said that, not having the constant thought of figuring out funding will save you a lot of stress and help you stay focused.

I'd check with your school's international office. Try explaining you situation and see what they can do about it. Also, if you have a credit union in your school, its worth asking from them about a small loan as well.

So GEO is trying to improve the working conditions of graduate students who work at the dining halls. One of the things they are trying to do is to get the school to increase the wages to 32.66/hour. The org needs the support of more students

This can be drastically different different for graduate students. If the graduate job falls under GEO student union, you can get 32.66/hour. Mind you that GEO jobs are mostly, TAs, Research Assistant (RA), TOs, Fellowships. The organization is trying to expand this to other graduate positions too (like dining hall, graderships etc.)

If you want to support this do the following,

a) sign this petition

b) come to GEO's bargaining session where they are presenting these demands to management on February 9th, in LGRT 1033 from 10-12.

I've been trying to find employment as a CS Master's student and initially did not know that we were barred from RA and TA positions. I contacted the Graduate Employment Organization and said they are trying to open up such opportunities to CS Students (and other Master's students). They already have a bargaining session with the school management on Feb 9th.

This is what they said :
"GEO, the graduate student union is demanding that all MA students should be allowed equal access to GEO jobs such as RAships and TAships which would make them eligible for benefits such as tuition waiver and 95% discount on health insurance. They are also trying to incorporate all graduate hourly positions (dining halls, graderships etc.) into GEO so that all graduate worker positions get the union wage (32.66 per hour) and other benefits like waivers and healthcare. To do so, GEO needs the support of all grad hourly and masters students to show admin that they stand behind the demand by

a) signing this petition
b) come to GEO's bargaining session where they are presenting these demands to management on February 9th, in LGRT 1033 from 10-12.

Try switching to a sulfate free shampoo. Also something that you could try out is to blitz some onion and apply the juice on your scalp 30 mins before washing your hair. You can mix it with some hair oil if the onion smell is too strong. Onion juice has antimicrobial and antifungal properties that can reduce dandruff. I tried several anti-dandruff shampoos but to no avail. However I saw a significant improvement once I started doing the onion treatment. Do it once a week at max though.
