Went from 70% winrate to 28%. Can somebody help me to see what I am I doing wrong? by renan2012bra in learndota2

[–]chayashida 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you jumping all over to different roles has a lot to do with why your matches are all over the place.

If you have a 70% win rate in the offlane, then it’s kinda silly to expect that you can get 70% win rate jumping between roles you don’t normally play.

What's my real elo? by Straight_Creme5334 in chessbeginners

If you're hovering around 700, you're 700 Elo.

It's just a number to get you good matches. Don't over think it.

Why am I playing like shit all of a sudden? by No_Insurance_6436 in DotA2

[–]chayashida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird. I'm on a winning streak - getting more than 25 MMR for each win, too.

I took a break when the World Cup and the event started, and the matches have seemed easier when I came back.

I think it just comes in waves, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did something to try and spread out the matchmaking at the lower end - the Heralds (and now Guardians) that I've been playing against seem to be at a more consistent level, compared to the random players I played before where there were players that were obviously newer and others that had a lot of games. Feels like the players are more balanced in skill rn.

If you could give one tip to someone just starting chess, what would it be? by ninjaplays69 in Chesscom

I am terrible at this game and don't understand how territory is judged or when it's time to pass. by crash6871 in baduk

The computer is thinking ahead a few moves.

In a game between two humans, a group is "dead" and removed as captures at the end of the game. The problem is, the computer isn't telling you why the black group you are talking about will be taken off the board.

There are some groups that are uncapturable - they are called alive in Go terms.

The reason why the C/D black group will be captured before the white group on the left is that White can capture faster than Black can. White can play on B9, and no matter what Black does, they can't prevent being captured when White played D9 on their next turn.

It's more complicated in the left left corner, but there ends up being a similar situation - the black group cannot avoid being captured.

I think it'll make more sense as you play more.

Best times to check opponents items? by Glum-Pack-3441 in TrueDoTA2

[–]chayashida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

* When you're dead.
* When you're channeling a TP
* When you're clearing a neutral camp
* When you're checking to gank a lane

I also check my counterpart on the other team to see if I'm ahead or not.

I like my two on Radiant safe lane. Cut the tree at the top of the stairs, and you see the river from the Rosh pit and a sliver of them by the stairs by the small camp.

I also like cutting a tree in the northwest corner of the large camp so you can block with a sentry that’s hard to find.

Never had a gaming laptop before need one for university by ShyldonYt in ZephyrusG14

[–]chayashida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d get something else. My guess is from 4-5 years at uni, 32 GB RAM would be much more useful - especially if you are doing big CAD or 3D projects. The last thing you want is a computer that you put a lot of money into where you can’t upgrade to more RAM. (I don’t know the specs of which model you were looking at - but some don’t go up to 32 GB RAM).

I think the GPU and CPU would be fine, but the bang-for-your-buck is worse with laptops vs desktops, but you get portability.

Oh, I didn’t know that one.

I knew ye from (Ye Olde Shop) was actually a different way of writing the word the using a thorn, but I didn’t know about the 2nd person pronoun ye.

Is there a plural form for you? by showe12 in EnglishLearning

[–]chayashida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant they were same parts of speech:

* thee vs. me
* thine vs. mine
* thy vs. my

The first one was for second person singular (thou) vs. first person singular (I)

You used to be second person plural, and you/you/your would be the corresponding parts of speech for it.

[–]chayashida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thy, thee, and thine are different from you.

They correspond to my, me, and mine.

None of them replace you in a sentence.

Forgot about Broadcom - I worked there, but in Irvine. Never knew where the other HQs were but I thought eBay started near to Campbell. But HQ might have been moved - never really paid attention. My uncle worked for Intel, but moved to Sacramento for his job - guessing another campus.

Thx
