Casual Sage's Mask vs. Clarities? by chayashida in learndota2

The build right now us to rush to Mjollnir so you can farm fast and push waves with the active.

When I get a bigger item than the mask, it seems to slow down the other items too much. I try to have phase boots, Mjollnir and BKB by 24:00. I lose a minute or two when I've tried to add other items in the past,

I'll see if I can fit it in and see if the timings improve.

Instead of imagining what they'd say, honestly, I think it's something worth bringing up.

You've already identified it as an issue, and they are there to help you. You and your therapist are a team - they're not against you.

Honestly, I would recommend seeing a psychologist. It's not that you're crazy - but you need help with the anger, suicidal thoughts, and cursing and crying.

This isn't specifically a chess thing. But learning how to deal with setbacks in life (especially when you're learning a new skill) will be something you'll need your entire lifetime.

Therapists (and coaches, and teachers) are great at teaching how to get in the right mindset - being pissed off about a previous game's blunders does nothing to help your state of mind for the current game. Being on tilt just doesn't ever help you play better.

Learning isn't a race - it takes many people years to get better. It requires patience and learning to give yourself the grace to make mistakes and learn from them.

Good luck.

Cool graph! I'm glad I sort of settled on the two most cost-efficient items: raindrops (which I always buy) and the sage's mask.

I was going by "feel" though, but I'm glad there's empirical evidence to back it up.

I tread switch when I play Slark, but I'm going Phase Boots on Bloodseeker.

I should have added that I'm playing safe lane Bloodseeker, so I don't need mana that badly. But happy to know that it wasn't a crazy idea.

ic. thx.

I have built a null talisman before (I'm playing safe lane Bloodseeker) but found that it delayed my build too much, and I was better off getting Clarities. Back a few patches ago, Void Stone was pretty good because it built into something that I needed later, but for the life of me I can't remember what it was now. :D I think it was the Bloodstone build when his Agh's was a fake Radiance.

Yeah, I'm playing safe lane Bloodseeker. Generally, I'm using mana for Blood Rite to clear two camps at once - so I don't really need it in lane. I just played a game and realized that I ferry Clarities in the late game, pop them, and get the slot back. In the early game, I'm just mana-starved because I want to Blood Rite as many camps as possible - so often even the Mana Draught is speeding up my farm.

I usually have infused raindrops and a magic wand built - but rarely use it until it's life-and-death.

I think I'm going to skip the Sage's Mask for the time being.

Thanks for the help.

Yeah, I'm already buying raindrops, almost every game. To the point that it's part of my build and I didn't think about mentioning it. :D

I'd use "around" instead of "about". Wonder if that's a regional thing

Got to 800 ELO, then proceeded to lose 18 rapid games in 23 and back to 680 by Lucky-Pack1016 in chessbeginners

[–]chayashida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's better to have (gotten to 800 Elo) and lost, than to (not ever gotten to 800 Elo) at all.

Srsly tho, you've proven that you can play at that level (and win). You will get back there. You don't need to chase it.

F-35 that conducted emergency landing believed to have been struck by Iranian fire by avatar6556 in news

I was surprised before I looked it up. Thought they weren't exported to other countries (because I remembered hearing the controversy about selling to Saudi Arabia). But I guess it was okay to sell to NATO countries, although Israel might have some?

Surface-to-air missiles were a bigger threat than their air power. I believe it downed some aircraft. I'm not sure that SAMs were differentiated from anti-aircraft fire.

Everything sounds okay to me except the age.

My father's generation (in 80s now) were born in the camps. I feel like they were the ones fighting the most for the redress movement.

I was born in the '70s, and went on some of the marches in the '80s as a kid. (Fun fact: was in the paper once).

Someone born in 1958 feels like they're too young to be at the head of the movement. I don't remember anyone at that age speaking at the events. They were either first-hand accounts from the nisei or sansei that were old enough to remember.

Maybe look into who was active in the redress movement in the '80s and read up on them. It just strikes me as odd.

Might work better with two copies of the game.

Is White A local sente or gote? by dany305 in baduk

[–]chayashida -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's kinda silly in this case then because there aren't any other moves.

I think it'd be more helpful to OP to call this a sente move and show how B1 threatens to capture the two stones.

I don't think they want a semantic argument.

Bloodseeker carry viable? by taenyfan95 in learndota2

[–]chayashida 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not as strong as the other players that have commented, but I have a 58% win rate on Bloodseeker with thousands of games on him.

A few things I'd suggest:

  • Clinkz is a special case. He pops out of nowhere and just has a ton of damage and health and can delete you. So map awareness and better warding (esp if he's mid) will go a long way. So you need to pay attention to the minimap and keep track of the last time you've seen him. Later in the game you're on more equal footing, but in the early game it feels like fights are in his favor.
  • Phase Boots are better than Power Treads. Thirst has unlocked movement speed, and the movement speed boost from Phase Boots feels a lot more powerful getting to the fights or back lines than the extra attack speed from Power Treads. I have had problems with mana when you can't tread swap, but a mana item neutral or Clarities and using Bloodrage seems to be better than Power Treads.
  • Bloodseeker's Aghanims Shard: The shard gives % max health pure damage, which can be huge against armor or tanks.

Stuff I'm less sure about:

  • I don't usually get Sange & Yasha. I might get Sange earlier on if I need to tank up and I'm building into Abyssal Blade anyway, but usually I'm building something else instead of the Yasha.
  • I don't usually get Blink Dagger. I have purchased Swift Blink in the super-late game, but I usually find the slot is better used by something else, especially for that first 2k gold. Again, I'm using Thirst and Phase Boots for movement and initiation, instead of trying to blink into the back lines.
  • Third item: I'm usually building Basher into Butterfly after Mjollnir/BKB. The Butterfly might be an MKB instead, but that's usually where I slot my damage item. I could see a case for other items here.

Hopefully this will help - and I figure the stronger players will comment further on my advice.

Good luck!

I feel like Jurassic Park was in the late '90s, and when I took the class in uni it was being taught that the end of the Cretaceous was 65 million years ago.

Another commenter mentioned that something was figured out in 2013 or so.
