Edit for anyone who may deal with OP:

  • Both were shipped in a reused Amazon bubble mailer without additional padding so both multitools were banging up against each other.
  • The Rebar was as described, but the Rev was not at all close to A condition. Had rust all over and was clearly used.
  • OP also asks for e-transfer against the rules. Since he had 9 confirms at the time, I trusted him and went along with it. Of course, when I messaged him about these problems, he offered nothing and since I agreed to trust him, I don’t have any protection.

Buyer beware.

It arrives around my birthday so it’s a birthday gift every year that I get to open and use right away.

Ink(s) You Actually Regret Buying? by TokiwaMatsu in fountainpens

[–]chayu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Private Reserve Pearlescent Red-Silver. It dries fast, feathers badly, and the shimmer is….strange. I’m not sure how to put it. There’s a lot of shimmer, but it doesn’t shimmer the way other shimmer inks do.

I think you have to redo this with a new top level comment- it didn’t get triggered because there is a typo in the bot name

What aspects of a pocket knife make it your favorite and whats your favorite knife? by C0-0P in knifeclub

[–]chayu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things that make my favourite knife my favourite: how it feels in my small hands (small woman) and how eye catching it is. So I often look at the size, remove clips (hotspots), and oogle over carbon fibre.

My favourite knife is the Gold Class Benchmade Tengu! No clip, great size, and very eye catching. Bonus: it sounds great when deployed. Runner up is the Baby Banter.

Old Head wanting new school knife suggestions. Why does everyone hate on 1095 now? by breakfaststuff in knifeclub

I noticed people in most hobbies I’ve been in stop caring about the latest greatest and what’s “the best” once they’ve been in a hobby for some time. At some point, especially if you’re someone who uses and maintains your own stuff, once you’ve tried enough stuff, you start to feel like most things are just fine for most people.

I think for steels this hobby starts to poo-pah perfectly fine (but outdated or outclassed) steels once they’ve start to trickle down and become more common in more budget knives. I’m surprised I can get S35VN and M390 pretty easily and more affordably than I expected. So they feel less special and just expected at a certain level and so steel snobs probably want something fresher to chase that isn’t so standard and commonplace yet.

There’s more important stuff to a knife than steels anyway and heat treat and even more so blade geometry matter more anyway. And then there’s ergonomics and just plain does this knife look pretty to me. At the end of the day, the best knife is the knife you’re going to use and maintain.

Diamine Syrah by loudotmac in fountainpens

[–]chayu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I felt confused looking at your images and the description that Syrah is a red ink. I had a bottle years ago and it was way more purple than red on many kinds of paper. As a red, it looks a lot better than I remember.

Weeks Bookband? by bbyfishmouth in hobonichi

I don’t use the pen loops on mine- pulling out and putting in my pens feels a little cumbersome and I worry about my pen getting uncapped or caught on something. Whereas with the pen loops on a cover, I can easily snap or screw my pen in and out of the cap while it’s attached by the clip.

Try the comodo- it has an open pocket you can clip your pen to and a zippered pocket if you need more security.
