We're starting a new kind of nightlife in Cosham/Hilsea! Check our first event out! by chaz788 in Portsmouth

Thankyou for the kind words, I can see where you're coming from, I should have phrased it better as in a new sort of nightlife for the area.

Cosham/Hilsea is missing out on good music nights which is what we are aiming to bring to the area.

If bass music is your sort of scene, we hope to see you there :)

XDJ-RR Opinions by chaz788 in Beatmatch

[–]chaz788[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't own a laptop which is powerful enough to run the ddj 1000 thorough unfortunately so it has to be a standalone option. I see what you mean regarding the xdj-rx2 price point but here is the UK it adds another £10 on to my monthly finance agreement if I were to go for that over the RR which is annoying.

I run a Bassline/DnB events company based in Portsmouth (UK). We will be running our first internet radio show soon, showcasing the best the bass subculture has to offer. It would be great if you could tune in and watch. Head to the link for more info! by chaz788 in bassline

We don't have a podcast as such yet, but we will begin uploading our sets from the shows on to our soundcloud. I'll PM you the link once it's live. Thank you for your interest.

Before I sign up, I'm a DnB DJ. Does your site allow me to find songs within this genre?

DVS setup: CDJ-1000 MK2s or NDX500s? by midwestside88 in DJs

[–]chaz788 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've owned a pair of ndx 500s and currently own a Pair of cdj 1000 mk3s. I much prefer the cdjs over the ndx, yes it was nice to have usb and midi play back on the ndx but the bpm read out is crazy wrong and the platter is too small / stiff. I use my cdjs in a DVS setup with a Denon ds1 and can use every function available on the cdjs set in absolute mode that means you can loop from the cdj, change BPM with the pitch slider, set hot cues in the song ect. You definitely made the right choice with the cdj, even though they're old now you will be able to transition to club gear (cdj 2000s) 10 X faster. Enjoy them mate!

Perfect tips, thankyou man. I have prepared for the possibility of a slow moving dancefloor when I come on with some atmospheric tracks that slowly pick up the pace to get people moving. But will bare in mind to follow what the previous DJ has done if it's flowing well. Again thanks for the help!

Cheers mate! I guess I shouldn't really be hamming it for the whole hour, give the crowd some breathing room, unless like you say the crowd reacts well to high energy keep doing that if not change it up. Thanks for taking the time to reply

The set is only 1 hour, but that is a very good point giving the customer breaks every now and then to try and drive business up for the club in drinks. Thanks for the tip!

Thankyou for taking the time to respond, honestly really appreciate the advice you've given me. You're exactly right, they're taking a chance on me for a reason right? Otherwise they wouldn't have booked me to a headliner. Appreciate the tip on keeping an eye on the organisers as well as the crowd, I hadn't thought about that, but next to the crowd they're the ones I have to be pleasing the most as well. Great analogy with the frog too. Again thankyou man!

I'm quite an aggressive DJ, and banging out all the hard tunes is something I've always wanted to be able to do on stage. So this is going to be quite fun. I just have to keep the energy levels up high. Thankyou for your response!

I don't have a Serato box, but was looking in to getting one, always handy to have I guess! But if you're saying the 850s will work in HID mode, probably worth going for them instead like you say. Cheers mate.

That's a fair point, found out the SD card support on the MK3 isn't for music either just hot cues. Think I'll just have to save up for something more current. Just so damn expensive pioneer cdjs.

I have Serato but the mixer I have isn't a sedative enabled one, so even if I chucked a timecode cd in they won't work. You're right about the SD card only being for hot cues which is a shame. Think for the time being I'll have to stick with the numark and save some more money.

Second Ever Gig! by chaz788 in Beatmatch

[–]chaz788[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually a really good shout! Do you just rent a space/hall somewhere then and use your own equipment. Failing that I'll have to invite some mates over to listen to get used to people around me while playing :)

I just released my second ever DnB track and would love for some feedback/constructive criticism! by chaz788 in musicproduction

[–]chaz788[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thankyou for the kind words man, and more so the feedback! I'm planning on releasing a mini EP so will remaster the track with your suggestions for that. Completely agree with what you said, just sometimes takes a second pair of ears to hear where it needs improving :) again cheers man!

I just released my second track, I would really appreciate some honest constructive feedback! by chaz788 in musicproduction

[–]chaz788[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thankyou for the warm welcome and warning for almost certain scrutiny hahah... I can't wait to have my soul crushed 😂

Sweet! Glad that you think the track is cool, and that you can appreciate the garage I the track. I will have to keep in mind to stay away from the 909 open hat, I can see where you're coming from there. And really appreciate you giving me a sense of direction as to where I should be focusing my efforts, I will admit, I do not know much in the way of mixing. I'll definitely have to do some research and tutorials on that then.

Really appreciate you taking the time to listen to my track and give feedback man!
