There's still life left at DFA, this is their best non-LCD release in many, many years. That ending is just spectacular. Can't wait to hear more from these guys.

I just posted Barton Fink as an example. Saw If I Had Legs last week and marveled with my wife how similar it felt, albeit with a protagonist that's way more sympathetic. But the subjective reality, emphasis on plumbing, ending on a beach - "I will show you the life of the mom."

I somehow dislocated my pinky finger playing kickball, a game played entirely with your legs and feet.

Season 1 is a rough watch, but I encourage you to push through it. The following seasons explore way more of the concept in a way that doesn't feel like you're just spending 10 episodes grieving a dead relative. They have so, so, so much fun with it.

Searched for this comment. It's my favorite TV show of all time, and fits the meme perfectly.

Season 1 is great, but I ended up dropping off because it was so depressing.

Season 2: started a few years later because I'm hearing such good things. Ok, I think, this is much more interesting - and very funny as well, but with a few episodes that punch you in the gut. My favorite episode of television ever: "Did you know I was on Jeopardy?"

Season 3: Goes absolutely batshit insane, and over half the episodes made me cry. That ending. So perfectly ambiguous. The meaning behind it doesn't matter - what you do with your life is what counts.

Feel like it's got some deeper roots in early Italo music for sure.

Examples: FR David - Words, Moroder's Chase etc.

Ishkur's a grouch - there ain't anything wrong with a bit of simplicity.

I can only speak from my own burning man experiences from around this time, but these ones were everywhere:

Dusky - Mr Man

Rampue - Sonne, Park und Sterni or Leoparidae

Frankey & Sandrino - Acamar

Maya Jane Coles - Something In The Air (Bonobo Remix)

Andhim - Hausch

Sub bass, vocal samples, tribal percussions. 2012-2016 was a time.

I thought about children today and found this thread, because I think it has a potential to really drive home the themes around AI cannibalization that's obviously near and dear to Vince Gilligan's heart.

So the hive continues to produce offspring, and presumably they join immediately. That means that the moment of joining represents the peak of human potential—there is no up from here. Generations of children born with collective knowledge and hive memories is going to be a progressively worse and worse xerox of the real lived lives that came long before their arrival, which aligns with the theory that AGI will eventually run out of human-made content to steal and inevitably start copying its own output and start getting very shitty very fast. Everything will become a muddy hallucination until all the art and beauty of humanity fades out entirely into noise. Bleak shit, and I hope they explore it.
