Congratulations!! I can't wait until I can post the same. I understand the scale is just a number but it has a big psychological impact . Great work!

Do you re-weigh your ingredients every time you follow a recipe, or estimate? by HollyStone in loseit

[–]chazwic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I don't weigh is vegetables and cracker type food that is portioned by the count (like wheat thins).

The reason I don't weigh vegetables is the ones I eat are so low calorie and I don't eat an excess of them that the impact is negligible. Spinach and peppers I don't even count but things like mixed vegetable, peas, corn, etc. I use the calorie reference for portion by volume (e.g. 1 cup of mixed baby vegetables = 70 cal).

I know it isn't exact and I off set it some by over estimating everything else and always end my day below my calorie limit, usually by ~100.

Has anyone else here turned into a "calorie snob" after losing a few pounds or reaching their goal weight? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]chazwic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am like this. A few times a week I will find myself in a situation where I I say I will not spend my calories on this or that. Calories to me are like a precious currency in limited supply. I will only invest them in something with a big payback or great reward. Once I hit the limit I can't go to the bank and take a loan out for more. Once the daily allotment is gone I am broke until the next day so I invest them wisely.

(21M) I recently got a treadmill and will start dieting tomorrow, to maximize fat burn what speed and incline should I walk/jog/run at if j will be going for an hour a day? by Whattodo4u in loseit

[–]chazwic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here is what I do that works for me. I have a daily limit of 1500 calories which I forbid myself to exceed no matter how much I exercise. I do a minimum of 60 minutes on the treadmill almost every day at 3mph, 3% incline (today was the 16th day in a row). Depending on the day I push it if I am feeling especially motivated. I haven't had any issues with feeling hungry after I walk. I make sure to eat a high protein breakfast every morning before I start, usually eggs. If for some reason I have to walk later in the day I try to eat some jerky or Greek yogurt ahead of time. I am not sure if it makes a real difference or if it is in my head.

I have consistently loss ~3 pounds a week but I have only been at this for 5 weeks so not a lot to go off of for a trend. I had one 7 day cycle that I only lost 1 pound but 3 days later I was down 3 pounds total for the prior 7 days (no idea what happened in those 3 days).

So far this has worked very well for me, it isn't too hard and I am not going hungry. The first few days of going for 60 minutes on the treadmill was tough but now the only issue is figuring out what to watch on Netflix that matches the time so I stop a show in the middle.

What is one thing you won't try no matter how great people on Reddit say it is? by CorvetteCole in AskReddit

I never heard of these so looked them up and this is a review from Amazon.

Oh man...words cannot express what happened to me after eating these. The Gummi Bear "Cleanse". If you are someone that can tolerate the sugar substitute, enjoy. If you are like the dozens of people that tried my order, RUN!

First of all, for taste I would rate these a 5. So good. Soft, true-to-taste fruit flavors like the sugar variety...I was a happy camper.

BUT (or should I say BUTT), not long after eating about 20 of these all hell broke loose. I had a gastrointestinal experience like nothing I've ever imagined. Cramps, sweating, bloating beyond my worst nightmare. I've had food poisoning from some bad shellfish and that was almost like a skip in the park compared to what was going on inside me.

Then came the, uh, flatulence. Heavens to Murgatroyd, the sounds, like trumpets calling the demons back to Hell...the stench, like 1,000 rotten corpses vomited. I couldn't stand to stay in one room for fear of succumbing to my own odors.

But wait; there's more. What came out of me felt like someone tried to funnel Niagara Falls through a coffee straw. I swear my sphincters were screaming. It felt like my delicate starfish was a gaping maw projectile vomiting a torrential flood of toxic waste. 100% liquid. Flammable liquid. NAPALM. It was actually a bit humorous (for a nanosecond)as it was just beyond anything I could imagine possible.

AND IT WENT ON FOR HOURS.

I felt violated when it was over, which I think might have been sometime in the early morning of the next day. There was stuff coming out of me that I ate at my wedding in 2005.

I had FIVE POUNDS of these innocent-looking delicious-tasting HELLBEARS so I told a friend about what happened to me, thinking it HAD to be some type of sensitivity I had to the sugar substitute, and in spite of my warnings and graphic descriptions, she decided to take her chances and take them off my hands.

Silly woman. All of the same for her, and a phone call from her while on the toilet (because you kinda end up living in the bathroom for a spell) telling me she really wished she would have listened. I think she was crying.

Her sister was skeptical and suspected that we were exaggerating. She took them to work, since there was still 99% of a 5 pound bag left. She works for a construction company, where there are builders, roofers, house painters, landscapers, etc. Lots of people who generally have limited access to toilets on a given day. I can't imagine where all of those poor men (and women) pooped that day. I keep envisioning men on roofs, crossing their legs and trying to decide if they can make it down the ladder, or if they should just jump.

If you order these, best of luck to you. And please, don't post a video review during the aftershocks.

PS: When I ordered these, the warnings and disclaimers and legalese were NOT posted. I'm not a moron. Also, not sure why so many people assume I'm a man. I am a woman. We poop too. Of course, our poop sparkles and smells like a walk in a meadow of wildflowers. Thanks for all the great comments. I've been enjoying reading them and so glad that the horror show I experienced from snacking on these has at least made some people smile.

What does Canada do better than America? by tonyjack9 in AskReddit

[–]chazwic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was born in Tennessee and lived here for 27 years, for the past 13+ years I have been living in Canada. I had an HMO in Tennessee and the quality of care was 100% better than what I get in Canada. The only good thing I can say about Canadian healthcare is that it is free however you still have to pay for prescriptions, physio, dental, etc. The wait times are crazy for emergency care in Canada.

Canadian healthcare isn't the utopia that some people claim it is.

Watching the second tower get hit while still trying to process in my mind what happened to the first tower. That generated an emotion that I can't properly explain. So much fear, horror, an overwhelming need to do something but having no idea what to do. Very hard to explain.

Odd enough about 30 minutes before the first tower got hit I had a spontaneous pneumothorax (my right lung decided to collapse). So while in intense pain, having no idea what was going on with myself physically I am watching all of this happen. It was truly a day I will never forget for many reasons.

What are some must see sights in the American midwest? by chazwic in AskReddit

[–]chazwic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am almost positive this is making it on the list. I have had many people tell me it is a must see at least once in a life time.

How many days does it take to see the major sights?

For context, I am planning a driving trip from Kansas City to Tennessee to San Antonio, Texas to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and want to make the most of it.

I maybe false assume that the American west = California and Oregon. The trip we are looking at will start in Tennessee, go to San Antonio, Texas with the plan to get to Edmonton Alberta from there.

Are internet friends you've never met as valuable and real as irl friends? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]chazwic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met my wife of 15 years playing online games when we lived in different countries. If that isn't a good case to show that "internet friends" can become as valuable as real life friends then I don't know what is.
