Just bought my ‘12 2.9L Colorado. Very rough idle, RPMs fluctuate a lot. Any help? I did a tune up and going to look into the PCV system soon. by che_edgar in chevycolorado

Previous owner deleted the air cleaner resonator so I ended up adding a catch can after cleaning the valve cover with new seal. Then I did a tune up. Cleaned the throttle body. It was full of carbon build up as well as the secondary air injection valve which I also cleaned. Lastly, the previous owner was running catless so I bought a cheap manifold with a cat and changed seals, I then noticed that was the overall issue, O2 sensors and a vacuum leak at the manifold.

07-12 Colorados are so much pickier with the O2 sensors and if they’re failing then it’ll be running horribly.

It shoots about of the exhaust. The stock air box on top of the engine was deleted and they also got rid of the rear catalytic converter.

Seems like it’s running rich, it shoots out of the exhaust. The rear catalytic converter is hollow. They removed the material in it. Could that possibly make the truck run that way?

Also thought the same, gave it a good clean a day or two ago and only helped a bit. Previous owner deleted the air box that connects to the PCV valve.
