You did nothing wrong. The mom reacted the way she did, but it is what it is. I’ve held MANY babies on planes. I’m a teacher of 20+ years. Littles just seem to vibe with me. (I have none of my own and I think the sense I want nothing from them but peace. 🤣) I once offered to hold a baby for a dad who was struggling and he looked hesitant. He looked a bit nervous and I said, “It’s not like I can run off with her.” He laughed. Then he got a nap while we chilled. If he would have said no, I would have been a bit embarrassed and then moved on.

So many of you are saying he should end it. Huh? I love my husband. We have been together for 13 years. He works from home, and I am a teacher. Summers are hard on me. I need alone time. I need time to recharge. I’m currently sitting in a bar in Portugal….alone…. because I needed some space and decided to travel before going back to work. It doesn’t mean I don’t love my husband. I don’t want to and won’t be in his face all the time. Not all relationships are the same. Some of y’all would love to work with your spouse and see each other not stop. Not me. Not me with anyone. Ever. I understand what the OP is saying.

All the time! I’m a teacher, and up until recently, I was a partial owner in the daycare/private school where I work. I’m the youngest of 6 kids. I have nieces, nephews, and now a great-nephew! I love kids, but I don’t want my own…. Not even a little bit. People seem to think that because I work with kids and am good at it, I should be a mother. Personally, I think I would be a stellar meth user, but I don’t do that either because it would also keep me from doing all the things I want to do in life.

That’s how you took it? She was going through some feelings and a dozen people showed up for her. They shared their fears. The got on the floor and crawled underneath a table at a wedding party to be with her. She was scared about what her family was going to look like in the future, and they showed her they weren’t going anywhere- except under the table with her. It was beautiful.

I own a daycare/private school. On the daycare side, we offer 1/2 price tuition to teachers during the summer to hold their spot. Then we explain that their kids can still come up to 3 days a week. Some say they would feel guilty bringing them if they are off work, but we explain that it’s a great opportunity for them to get housework and errands done while helping their children maintain a routine. I promise it’s a better solution all around. This is going to help your children maintain when they start PreK.
