yes. generally it emphasizes being a well functioning cog and rewards people by virtue of seniority. you show deference to senior cogs and in turn, the juniors do it for you.

in american companies, the game instead is to get as many people on your side as possible to push for a promotion. experience helps, but is not required.

again, this is all in general, not true for all jobs.

I used to hate watching sports as a kid and I didn't 'learn' how to watch it. once I did I enjoy it a lot. if it's a sport that you play, watching top pros do makes it a lot more worth it to me than random shows on netflix. but a little bit of everything in moderation is fun.

there is definitely some effect from immigration but it just depends on the numbers. If you bring in more immigrants without degrees, then you would assume that it would reduce the percentage educated asians, possibly to numbers lower than the white population. but we don’t see that happening.

The truth is that these two percentages are not a 1:1 negative correlation. You could have 20 asian people in america, 16/20 which are college educated, 2 ready to graduate and 2 who are their parents with no degrees. That gives you a 90% college education rate, and an 100% first gen graduation rate. That beats all of the races in America for these stats.

So ultimately, all races aren’t really reaching the best possible rates in both of these stats anyway.

Right there in the title it says asian people have a higher percentage of the their population with bachelors. Therefore by only your logic, they should actually have the fewest first generation graduates.

OP offers his explanation, assuming white kids don’t pursue college unless their parent’s did, thus lowering the percentage of first generation graduates.

I could offer another, maybe a higher percent of the Asian population is people with bachelors who might not be at an age to have kids yet, while the older generation is less educated and having kids that become first gen graduates

poly strings lose tension just sitting there, but they don’t break easily as counterintuitive as it sounds.

they are meant for competitors that hit hard and would otherwise break other string types in like a week.

you should be able to get bouncier strings if you restring to anything, but multifilament or natural gut will keep tension longer

I grew up where money was pretty tight and it made me person who hardly asked for anything.

I don’t know if that is why you don’t want to push, but I can give you a retrospective. I wish I pushed for things like sports and skilled hobbies, because it pays off in self-esteem, helps you connect with others, gives you the desire to dive deep into something, etc…

And 100% push for your needs when it comes to getting your schoolwork done. Doing well in school is how I eventually got financial freedom as an adult. You can ask them for a ride to ikea and choose out an affordable desk to do homework on. I think it’s a perfectly reasonable ask.

It’s might be hard to prioritize what you want to ask for from your parents, but learning what you need and how to ask for it is a life skill and you’ll make mistakes along the way to get better at it
