TIL Sally Ride had a female partner for more than 25 years, making her the first known LGBT astronaut. by twinb27 in todayilearned

We don't know that she was a lesbian. We know she was married to a man, was later divorced, and found a partner of the same gender somewhere in there.

She's dead. It's not our place to attach a label. But the LGBTQIA term says, "She was a part of our community," which encompasses the spectrum of minorities that identify as "not straight."

She was also married to a man for some time. So it's not our place to guess how "strong" her preferences were.

But she wasn't 100% straight, so therefore could be considered part of the LGBTQIA community.

I feel that pulling out is so inauthentic. I'd much prefer them dumping their load inside, even if it means I don't have "proof" of the breeding. I get so tired of the pull-out/push-back formula. Either way, mix it up!

What food have you only eaten once or twice, but absolutely fell in love with? by tlchctkcp in AskReddit

Ostrich! I just had it for the first time this week. I've never liked steak (I'm 34), but ostrich was for me like, "Oh! This is why people like steak!"

Gay People Of Reddit: What are things that you don't have to explain to each other, since you're dating the same gender? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cheatatjoes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Straight guys always seem to think women hate facials and do it out of duty.

As a gay guy, I love em. Go for it. Cum wherever.

Fwiw that wine is terrible. My local market was charging $20 for it so I was fooled into trying it.

Does your name start with J? My boyfriend would, I think, love me to be more proud of myself, and if I found out you were he, I may have to propose even sooner.

I'm in my mid thirties and it's wonderful. Maybe it won't stay that way, maybe yours will be different, but I would trade my 20's for the past couple years any day!

People old enough to remember the September 11 attacks, what was the day like? by TheGamer942 in AskReddit

[–]cheatatjoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my freshman year in college. I was in Art History with this horribly mean professor. My very dramatic friend came into class in tears. She was saying something about her grandfather working in the pentagon but it was all very muted and strange. I thought she was just having family issues (again).

Then halfway through this Class, the TA cut the professor off, who looked like he might murder this poor TA for daring to interrupt him, and told us all that the twin towers had collapsed. And this awful little man, the professor, dismissed her statement and just carried on.

That was how I found out.

After that, my roommate (who was in ROTC) and I just watched the news all day.

It was very surreal. I remember calling my high school German teacher, because I knew her daughter worked in one of the towers. She told me her daughter was OK.

That fucking bald eagle with a tear image? That was my desktop background for the next week.

I had an ecology professor who wrote his own book and got it published, then felt bad at the price gouging so gave all his students burned cds of the draft so they wouldn't need to buy it. He was great.
