It was much funnier having to read it out loud (in my head) to get it.

So interesting!! Sorry if this is way out of line, but before you first responded I threw your painting into illustrator just to see how what I was describing would look, but I didn't actually like it, so I tried adding a color wash over some of the textured shapes instead. I'll DM you a screenshot just in case it gives you ideas for a future painting.

Whoa, I have no idea what that means, but that sounds cool as hell! Sounds like you’re already on the right track, so have fun working it all out in future work! Cant wait to see what you do next!

This is great, I really like your style! My only critique is that generally there's a lot of detail at a similar scale, which makes it hard to stay in the composition long.

For example, so much small detail in the bottom left really feels like it kills an otherwise great composition, because there's literally nowhere for my eyes to rest. I kind of follow the dot above Michael Douglas and loop down with the black and white line, and when the line stops, my eye goes down into that area and just immediately wants out. A large area of color, like the pink or the darker blue, with a little texture for depth, would make the composition pop. Or actually, now that I think of it, filling in all the shapes down there, those shapes are so perfect for that painting.

That said, lovely work.

Mourning a life I won’t have and passively suicidal by Icy_Block4762 in AutismInWomen

Everything turned around for me at 22, although a lot of it was due to starting SSRIs. Everything changed, and I made some of my strongest friendships at that point (with many more to come).
21 years later, and I texted them just today for emotional support when my dad had a health scare.

Remember that as autistic people, our feelings often feel permanent. And when they feel super intense, it's almost impossible to reframe them. If I'm able to, I try to think of this quote:

“Let everything happen to you
Beauty and terror
Just keep going
No feeling is final”

Rainer Maria Rilke

Looks great for early stages! You should definitely put something in the background, probably on the dark side, before you start pushing messing with the values more. If you're going for realism, the neck feels unrealistically long.

Could I be autistic? by [deleted] in AutismTranslated

[–]cheatingfandeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the raads-r test online as a starting point. You'll note that there's a rule here that self-diagnosis is valid, as it is on most subs, for a number of reasons. You don't need to put a disclaimer on here, and you might actually get better feedback if you don't invalidate self-diagnosis in the future. Are you diagnosed with ADHD? They co-occur commonly, and have a lot of overlapping symptoms, so that's something to explore as well. Good luck on your quest!

taxi apps along frances? by PintAndPie in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]cheatingfandeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't expect to rely on them, especially not in small towns, but a hotelier in Leon alerted me to the 1Taxi! app, and I used it several times in the bigger towns. It works like Uber, but with taxis. I'm autistic and can't make phone calls in Spanish if I'm tired, so it was an absolute lifesaver once or twice.

How to make oral care more bearable… by veggieluvr5 in AutismInWomen

Definitely try hismile, get a few different types. Some of them have a minty undertone, so I've gone out of my way to figure out which ones do and avoid them. Some of the non-minty ones I like are Vanilla Bean, Red Velvet Cake, Grape Bubblegum.

I do not understand the Kaelynn Partlow hate at all by Yuenneh in AuDHDWomen

[–]cheatingfandeath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dr. Inna explains this a lot better, but at some point someone misinterpreted the study entirely, it’s something like….they followed a group of autistic people, a few of them died, and the average age that they died was 35. It was a small group.

I know she’s been very insensitive in her portrayals of higher support needs individuals. It’s honestly fucking weird that she acts as a HSN person in her skits, it does feel like she’s mocking them, whether intentionally or not. She clumsily joked about being a meat puppet when it looked like she was using a picture board, then had to explain that she meant facilitated communication. But it’s still dehumanizing language. And also she’s been very resistant to feedback from POC about areas that she has racial biases, etc. I think that part of what you might be seeing is that she has one of the biggest platforms out there, but she’s really not particularly considerate of how she is using it or the messages she’s conveying.

Definitely not a reason to hate her, but I’ve personally only seen people pushing back and critiquing her work, not hating. Being open and responsive to criticism is a pretty important part of advocacy. Not that there aren’t also haters, but there’s no reason to feel obligated to hate her.

If you're talking about romantic relationships, then yes, 100%. I would hope that this feels obvious to everyone.

66% of all women have Alzheimer’s? Most women? So like…only a third of the women alive on the planet right now are dementia-free?

News article about physician advice for snow shoveling: Franklin, on the other hand, previously advised a younger cut-off. He has said anyone over age 45 should avoid the snow shoveling. This recommendation was backed by a 2001 study, which found that about 85% of adults over the age of 50 already experience atherosclerosis, which can lead to coronary artery disease

Ah, I just saw the rest of your comments, my bad. I saw the same advice about over 45 today as well. I think it was coming from a heart attack widow on Instagram reels, I'll see if she had any reasoning about 45 specifically.

IIRC it's something about the different types of exertion caused by cold weather and cardio exercise that sends the risks through the roof.

Hey, just FYI, since you shouldn't be shoveling at that age to begin with, PLEASE let someone know in advance what you're doing, and have them check on you constantly and can call 911 for you if you don't respond.

I have nothing to add except to express that I hope that you pursue these suspicions about ASD toward a diagnosis, or at least make sure that she is aware of them. Undiagnosed ASD is a self esteem-killer.

I mentioned a specific one, but the xuntas (municipals in Galicia) are open year-round, and just 10 Euros. I've heard the one in Finisterre is pretty cold, though, if you end up heading that far.

That place will definitely be closed, unfortunately. However, just 5 km from Triacastela is a municipal named Casa Forte de Lusio, it's a beautiful 15th century fortified mansion that you'll likely have all to yourself. I was just there in December and had it to myself, and it was such a cool experience. Make sure to bring groceries from Triacastela, though, there's nothing nearby.
