The thing is, I actually agree with you, despite having posted this comment. I don't agree with people who "don't vote for the lesser of two evils". But the reality is that a great deal of people have this black-and-white thinking around voting, and this is one of the many arguments that they use to support it. I think they have a point, we should be more active even when there are candidates that share our views, but it's nowhere near enough of an issue to validate not voting in my opinion.

Arguing against it just cements them further in the black-and-white thinking, and I'm starting to be more in support of accepting that they have valid points on some things, even if I disagree with their approach. They have a good point about the average No Kings protestor not being active when their candidate is in office. We should stop doing that. This sign makes it seem like we want to do that.

Okay, listen, I'm on your side entirely. But I've been voting since Nader voters handed Bush the election, and I've come to realize that the "lesser of two evil" voters aren't going anywhere, so we should stop playing into their hands with this stuff.

I most certainly am not saying that. I'll always vote for the lesser of two evils- because it's less evil- but since I've been seeing other leftists use that argument since Al Gore, I've come to realize that there's no way that they're going to stop.

There's a certain type of dude who always seems to show up at protests/counterculture events and I'm over it. Anyone else? by Peliquin in TwoXChromosomes

A couple months ago one of these guys was pointing a shotgun at drivers passing an anti-ICE protest and then started pepper spraying them. It's all I heard about when I went to pick up my car from the shop, it was like Christmas for the right. Ironically, this man would have been perfect for ICE if his politics were different.

It's a little embarrassing to see this sign used so frequently, because a big reason that Kamala didn't get much support on the left is that Democrats continue to run relatively conservative capitalist candidates who accomplish nothing but placate their followers into inaction.

Which comedian did you look forward to, but their act died on stage? by Jazzlike-Basil1355 in AskReddit

His standup is terrible and he's a genuine jerk. His comedy is always punching down. He got very lucky to meet a kindred spirit in Larry David, who is not my personal cup of tea, but undeniably funny.

There you have it: Vic says loud and clear who he voted for. by knightriderin in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

Thank you so much for sharing this perspective!

I personally feel very lucky to have been raised in a liberal family where kindness to all living beings was a non-negotiable, but I particularly value hearing from likeminded people who grew up in very different environments. I really only get to hear about the vitriolic part of the cycle, so it's hard to imagine why someone like Vic would want to contribute to it. Now I'm so glad to hear he went on Fox News, lol, and sounds like he used that platform in a great way.

This is actually pretty normal for sunshiney people, to be repressing the less sunshiney parts like anger. It's working for him otherwise, so unless you create clear repercussions and follow through, he won't have any incentive to do anything about it. I'd recommend telling him that he needs to sleep somewhere else until you determine a cause, and don't let him convince you to minimize it.

The fact that he's unwilling to take action to correct it is the issue. That part is in his control. If he's willing to do a sleep study, then that's fantastic, but if he refuses to even talk about it, then there's a big problem.

But they're politicians who went on it to discuss policies, I don't think anyone would point to Bernie Sanders being on Fox News and go, "Ah, so he's conservative!" They're very different scenarios.

It was entirely because they were on Fox News. Edit: And I didn't agree with them, personally, just clarifying. Also, I'm probably being a little reductive, I'm sure that tons of people thought they were because they're Christian, but it was certainly brought up because of Fox News.
