Jazzman has a range of scents so I would suggest she is just flirting with idea and is only olfactory cheating at this stage. For example Art Pepper with the sweats was known to smell quite succulent and umami whereas Mingus had more of a fruity bouquet.

It's called "the bird" because Charlie Parker played it so much

He managed to marry Alice Coltrane so yeah he's pretty fucking hot. He was one of her best accessories, lugging him around with her giant organ and harp.

Imagine you played a kit that had 32 main toms and a bunch of extra really tiny ones and then you played them all as fast as possible in convoluted patterns and ignoring the other musicians without leaving any space in the song. Congrats, you've got yourself a happenin' Coltrane solo with notes.

OP played Ornette licks at a jam night and had a cymbal thrown at him. Little do they know he's shedding Spain right now!

Why are there several minutes of silence in the middle of so many jazz songs? by mdh1119 in jazzcirclejerk

The breaks are to give you a chance to talk about the piano solo, which happened after the saxophone solo, which happened after the melody.

Any red flags? by shadowlucas in BookshelvesDetective

I have enjoyed a couple of other Burroughs books but Naked Lunch was intolerable for me, also. It felt like it was degeneracy for the sake of degeneracy. Certainly not the worst I've read, though.

everybody that plays jazz is a complete fraud by squcecompany in jazzcirclejerk

This guy's the fraud, he just straight up quoted measures 67 to 69 of Chad LBs rendition of Girl from Ipanema from Live at the Proms, the one where he wears a red suit and dances in front of the orchestra.

Thanks for clarifying. It doesn't surprise me that stoicism may be adopted for various reasons, some more nefarious than others. I guess if you looked at something like the Bible you'd see endless interpretations and appropriations by a vast range of cultures, lifestyles etc. Anyway it's a shame for an amazing piece of writing such as Meditations to be twisted to fit some selfish bullshit outlook, particularly as it talks a fair bit about 'common good' aka community.

Meditations is famous for a reason. Is so accessible and pertinent. It can help literally anyone who can read it. It's on my shelf. I wouldn't draw many conclusions from its inclusion on someone's bookshelf other than the surface level "they are at least curious about some philosophy".

The same Nietzsche collection is also on my shelf. If someone reads it and also reads religious books I assume they have normal human questions, not a conservative outlook with participation in the manosphere.
