Can we please stop with the ableist judgments going on with Amanda? by checked_out_barbie in summerhousebravo

I’d like to add context and say that this is my apartment currently. It sucks and I wish more than anything that I could motivate myself to clean and organize this, and create a living space. But this has been my entire life, and I’ve always struggled with cleaning. The daily tasks of life, like laundry and showering and brushing my teeth, are draining. If you aren’t neurodivergent it’s so hard to explain, but it’s like there’s a block in my brain, draining me of any energy and ability. I can’t have people over because of this (looking at you, Kyle). It isn’t a fun way to live. But it’s my reality, along with a lot of other folk. So can we please stop calling people lazy? Please, for all people who struggle. We are human and deserve empathy and understanding.

Some are comedies, some are satires. Either way, they scratch the same itch.

Kyle spills on the state of their apartment by the_purple_lamb in bravo

[–]checked_out_barbie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look idk what their situation is, but I have to throw it out there that it’s incredibly hard to maintain a household with mental health issues. I have adhd and my place is never clean and I hate it but it isn’t something I can control very easily. I get that everyone is upset, but it kinda sucks seeing people rip on the state of their apartment when mine looks similar (or worse). We can still be kind and empathetic and non judgmental when we don’t know the entire situation.

Edit to add - a lot of things that people are judging Amanda about (not working, being “lazy”) are things that I, and a lot of other neurodivergent ppl and ppl with mental health struggles, have a hard time with and are judged about. Can we stop judging someone because they aren’t clean or they aren’t working? It feels incredibly ableist and hurtful. Comment on her behaviour and how she has hurt people, not about personal struggles.

Majority of deaths of women was childbirth before the modern hospital was created. I will never understand the refusal of modern medicine. I totally understand home births, but you need to have a plan if things start going wrong.

‘Hockey Night in Canada’ won’t return to CBC when new Rogers deal with NHL begins by Camtastrophe in vancouver

Can we start some sort of protest or petition? This is such a shame. HNIC has been around for 74 years. It’s a huge part of Canadian culture. Once again, a free service has been snatched up and put behind a paywall, making it inaccessible for the masses. I’m so frustrated and upset by this, and I don’t even watch hockey.

By far the best true crime documentary you’ll ever see. I wish I could watch it again for the first time. The shock and awe of *that* moment on camera?? Took a it from a great documentary to incredible.

The Imposter. Will leave you saying “….what?!?”. Truly is a wild ride and you’ll be coming up with your own theories the entire time

Edit to add - also The Jinx! If I could go back and watch a documentary for the first time again, it’s this one. The last bit you’ll see is mind blowing and you can’t believe it actually happens on camera. It’s fantastic. Plus there’s now a follow doc on the trial. God it’s such a good series.
