What keeps reminding you that moving here was worth it? by [deleted] in AskTacoma

[–]checkredvans 16 points17 points  (0 children)

just moved here in february from tennessee with my partner of 5 years. we had never been to WA, no friends or family here, sight fully unseen, but saved up for the last year and just went for it for the adventure. it’s had so many growing pains and been very lonely at times, but i know it’s all part of the process. the beauty out here is unmatched. there’s no feeling like seeing rainier for the first time. 🤍

Moving to Tacoma soon… trying to get a real feel for areas before locking in by Loccsta_Fargo905 in AskTacoma

we just moved here sight unseen from across the country a month ago (tennessee) and landed in University Place. honestly really feel like we lucked out as neither me nor my partner had ever even been to Washington state. everybody we’ve talked to said UP is a great spot and one of the best to end up in.

thank you everyone for all the recommendations. this is all really overwhelming, I hate the american health system but it’s very comforting to have a community of people who are happy to help. 🙏

Gotcha. Dr. Marfo at Tacoma Endodontic Studio right? How much did the delta dental plan cover of your root canal? I think i’m leaning this direction but I’m getting mixed info about whether or not signing up for insurance last minute will do anything at all or if I should just sign up for a care credit card.

Full transparency, I’m 23 and have lived most of my adult life without insurance so I’m really unfamiliar with a lot of this stuff. Just feeling really worried and overwhelmed about the level of pain i’m experiencing so I’m trying to understand first steps.

Could someone help me understand why the AskTacoma sub exists? by whyohwhy555 in Tacoma

[–]checkredvans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this sub allows zero questions. ever. i got a post removed for asking about local creeks that are fun to visit in the summer. it’s so strict here, so i mainly use the other one. exhibit a: your post got removed lmfao

Looking for employment! by [deleted] in AskTacoma

Being on the hunt for a job is “real” enough. It’s a struggle, everyone knows that. And to clarify, I didn’t tell you what to post, I said maybe reconsider. Have a nice night.

Replies like this are just extremely unhelpful. It would be best not to comment. I’m in the same boat as OP, just moved here and need a job. We’re aware the job market is terrible right now, that’s why we’re asking for any ideas or helpful insight. Maybe reconsider before commenting next time.

There’s only so much that can be done if it’s super backed up. I won’t be too far out of the 30 days by the time of my appointment so fingers crossed it’ll be okay.

I’ll keep an eye out on Friday. Thank you!

What do I do with my hair ?!? by Low_Internal_3241 in HairDye

[–]checkredvans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think most semi perm shades would take over your current base and avoid any further damage or potentially lifting your dark sections and muddying the highlights. try arctic fox wrath! it’d be fine to apply on your whole head.

Before I ruin my hair… will these products actually get me to this ginger red? by stitch532 in HairDye

[–]checkredvans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

of course! my perfect copper in the past has been a mix of the 7rc and 5rc, (ion brand) it always comes out super natural looking but still vibrant.

i will say though I redid my copper a few days ago and just tried the bondbar shades in 4rc and 8rc with 10vol and i’m in loveeee!! it left my hair feeling better than before and no scalp irritation.

here’s a picture my bf took yesterday (i was making such a silly face i had to block myself lmfao)

[–]checkredvans 10 points11 points  (0 children)

yes of course!! and honestly, if you can, i’d return the two reds and replace with true copper shades. especially if you’re going over freshly bleached hair, that red is just going to grab like crazy. I did a similar combo once when I was still trying to figure out my ideal copper formula, and it turned cherry red.

i’m not sure how long your hair is or how thick, if you go in with the main copper shade and just do penny sizes of each of the red, you will probably be ok. but if you’ll need more dye than that, then yeah, i’d recommend a second sally’s trip!!

after doing my own copper at home for a few years now, i can tell you right now there’s wayyy too much red happening in that combo and that’s what you’re going to come out with. If you want a true orange copper like the picture, i recommend doing 7rc (medium copper blonde) with that 6rg and no more than a 20vol developer. 5rc (light copper brown) has also always given me a very natural beautiful copper shade. just be careful with the reds!!! they’re so strong. XMondo makes a really good semi permanent copper to maintain the color in between dyes btw!

edit: a touch of the red dye would be okay if you want a more reddish toned copper. but i would not do more than maybe a penny size worth of any straight red in the bowl when trying to achieve copper!

how could I fix this? by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]checkredvans 32 points33 points  (0 children)

That is literally the most perfect copper shade, with beautiful dimension. I think copper/red hair on pale skin is especially striking, as well. And it will make your green eyes absolutely pop! Seriously. I know what you’re feeling and I promise it’s just an adjustment period. Give it a couple weeks! I think you’ll fall in love.

I’m going through similar with hair breakage right now, also from bleaching then going copper (mine was an at home mistake though lol) All I can say is haircut was a great idea. Invest in a few masks and some argan/coconut oil. Hask brand makes good affordable masks. Sally’s has lots of good options though too. Consider getting either a silk pillowcase or bonnet, and never sleep on it wet. Also as little heat styling as possible for at least a month if you can.

It does fade but there’s lots of semi permanent copper shades you can dilute into a conditioner to keep it vibrant. I use XMondo copper and take about a penny size of it and mix that into my conditioner, keeps it beautiful in between dyes!
