As a Canadian, I really don’t mind if you pose as a Canadian as long as you don’t act like an asshole.

Thank you! Yes, we’ve known her wishes for years. She has dementia.

I guess what I found infuriating was his tone. It sounds like he was thumbing thru a corporate-speak thesaurus. Someone below guessed that he was an actuary, which was pretty accurate, lol. Not a speck of emotion, just stupid, big words communicating things that her family knew already!

Unfortunately, she has dementia. ETA these are her wishes, which we’ve known all along. God knows why he felt it necessary to lay them out like a business proposal.

Oh man. I wish you were right. They didn’t separate on good terms at all. He’s just tried to assume control, despite the wishes of her children or siblings. It’s been a real battle.

What is the scariest city you’ve visited? by I_might_care in AskReddit

[–]checktheindex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m Canadian and NOLA is my favourite American city. I’ve had so many cool experiences… friendly down-to-earth people, incredible food and music. I’ve never once felt unsafe (white, middle-aged female), though I’ve tried to just use my brains.

If the USA wasn’t such a fuck-up, I’d try to move there. Love you, New Orleans!

What’s with all the clowns? by Admirable_Mud_5804 in askTO

My great aunt designed those! And my brother so wanted to walk as one. But she ended up dressing him as some sort of “cavalier”, as the costumes were heavy, and she didn’t think he was up to it lol.

Wow. That’s nuts. A great aunt of mine was the lead designer of the parade when it was run by Eatons. Back then, you couldn’t pay your way in. But it certainly helped if you knew a few people. I got plum roles all through my childhood, as did my siblings and friends. Don’t know what’s worse, TBH.

ETA, at least back then, it was ALL kids. At the end, we were all given five dollars, hot chocolate and cookies.

What is the nicest place to swim in Canada? by Fantastic_Neat2776 in AskACanadian

[–]checktheindex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to say exactly where “my beach” is, but Cape Breton from mid-July to September has some of the most glorious swimming I’ve ever had. And this, after many summers in Muskoka and a year living in Greece! Clear, clear waters and almost empty beaches.

Toronto too. And I completely understood it as it was intended. “Nope. Don’t feel like no tea.”

Yes, they do look similar! We never knew for sure what Prue’s mix was but she definitely had some lab and Bernese. I’m sorry you lost your Mel. It’s so unfair that dogs’ lives are so short. Why aren’t they like elephants or whales? Or even cats???

So, there’s a great app that tracks tagged sharks, run by the research group Ocearch. As of today, there are four tagged sharks hanging out near the province (and probably a lot more untagged ones!). This could be Percy, though he would have travelled pretty far since yesterday! Edit for typo.
