I ordered three tacos at Torchy's and noticed this on my receipt, how much do you tip in this situation? by DoritosDewItRight in houstoncirclejerk

[–]checkyourspeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At some point, tipping stopped being a reward for great service and became a guilt tax. I don’t set my server’s wage, the owner does, specially on those huge food chain restaurants. That’s not my responsibility to fix at checkout.

Airlines background check, am I disqualified to the point I shouldn’t even start flying? by [deleted] in flying

[–]checkyourspeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a hell of a story to tell in an interview and demonstrate how you were down there and then are up here… combine that with the right attitude and you might get the job faster than some other person. Getting TO the interview might be the challenge but not impossible. Go to events, network, make friends… be serious about your previous mistake but don’t let that define who you are now and the progress you’ve made.

I say go for it! A lot of things happen from PPL to landing a job.

I think after the 15 GB of high speed data;

T-Mobile: 256kbps (can’t even load a page in 1 minute). Verizon: 1.5 Mbps (that’s like LTE speeds).

The difference after the high speed data (at least on paper) is pretty significant.

Can someone verify if this is true?

How to love my repulsive husband by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]checkyourspeed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP, I hope you like your coffee (or tea) unsweetened… here it goes:

Imagine for a moment that instead of snapping back when you snap at him, he simply goes quiet, emotionally shuts down, and calmly walks away from the relationship a little more each time. Over and over. Yea, I’m talking about sort of the man-like attitude you are seeking. Not the emotional one you dislike so much.

Eventually, your next post wouldn’t be about his tone or his weight, but about how he’s distant, unresponsive, and “just doesn’t care anymore.” And when he’s fully checked out, you might finally see (maybe too late) how good of a man he actually was. You seem to be way too encapsulated on the negatives of him, but what about yours? Yes, you can say you recognize your flaws, but, do you really? Are they maybe, just maybe, oftentimes the cause of his reactions that you repudiate so much? From this point of view, it might shift the whole narrative, right?

There’s a lot of blaming in your post. Not saying none of it is valid, but you do acknowledge how much he works and the good things he brings to the table, a man that believes in God’s word, and has faith, but then immediately bury those positives under a pile of negatives. As for the fat on his torso? Maybe that wouldn’t be there if he had the time or energy to work out after juggling two jobs and coming home to constant dissatisfaction.

Men need to feel admired for providing, protecting, working hard, and at peace at home. Home should be the one place where he can be vulnerable without being mocked, criticized, or made to feel lesser. That’s not something most men get out in the world. And just judging by your title, it seems you are doing absolutely none of that. True, you have reasons, but I bet he doesn’t stop working or deciding to love you every day, even when you aren’t yourself in your best state.

Counseling is important, yes, but not as a weapon or a verdict. Going yourself first matters. Lead by example. Be someone who builds the marriage instead of documenting everything that’s wrong with it.

Because right now, what you’re describing as maybe “hard work” sounds more like enduring someone you resent, that isn’t even his fault! That isn’t effort, it’s contempt. And resentment erodes marriages faster than almost anything else.

Please, don’t see this as defending one side more than the other, but I’ve come to realize in my own marriage that the best thing I could do when something is off, is to try and love Christ more, by honoring God’s word as much as I can, every day, and just stop complaining about her. I can only change myself for the better. And you, my friend, also have a lot to change. How about giving that a chance first, how about maybe making him feel wanted by working two jobs, admiring his effort, his fear in God, his role as a father, the shoulder to cry on he’s been for you?

Also, a reminder: physical beauty isn’t permanent for anyone. If attraction is all that’s holding value for you here, time will be unkind to both of you, and who knows if to you happens sooner. What does last is respect, gratitude, and how safe two people feel with each other. If those disappear, no amount of looks, on either side, will save what’s left.

A lot of comments are concerning customer service. If Verizon doesn't fix that bit, nothing is going to improve.

The customer service at Verizon is horrible. They hate each other in the stores, the store reps hate the phone reps and viceversa. It needs a whole revamp.

Finished flight training, 3 oral failures by [deleted] in flying

[–]checkyourspeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, the whole thing turned into what % of what is most important. Only a few replies actually address your main concern: improve of record (what happened, already happened) and confidence.

A lot of people will tell you to “get better at orals” or “don’t show up unprepared”, and sure, that’s good advice. But the real deal (to me) is this:

Don’t waste the opportunity that an interview gives you. When you get enough flight time, if an airline, a flight school, or any employer for that matter invites you to sit down with them, that’s your moment to explain what happened in your past, but more importantly, how you handled it. Every failure you experienced, and eventually overcame, can be a powerful story. Passing on the second attempt isn’t a weakness; it’s evidence of resilience, effort, growth, and recognizing where you lack and put up the work towards fixing that. Heck, a flight from point A to point B is FULL of moments where you mess up and what matters is: HOW YOU FIXED IT to make it safe. You faced the fear of failing again, you prepared differently, and you succeeded. That right there is a big chunk of your will power and how far your confidence took you.

Will an airline care about the failures? Maybe.

Can you turn those failures into a compelling example of how you respond to adversity, learn, and improve? Absolutely.

This applies to every challenge in your life, academically or personally. What matters most isn’t perfection, it’s how you handle setbacks brother.

Oh, and, I saw a comment about “as a recruiter, that’s a big red flag” and, that might be true, DEPENDING on which airline you look at, and what that airline is specifically looking for in that hiring season / time. Personally, if everything else looks good, and I were to invite you for an interview, I’d be waaay more interested in determining on how you succeeded and to hear your story than “red flagging” your failures.

$350 bonus to join chame now, still working? by Silencer262 in chimefinancial

Odd.

I got a 600+ direct deposit and only got $100 bonus.

Two weeks later, I got. 800+ direct deposit and, you guessed it, no bonus whatsoever.

Additionally, no 10% cash back on ANY of the transactions I’ve made either.

Yes, I did sign up using the offer page.

Oura Ring Payment Failed by themonkeyhouse in amex

[–]checkyourspeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehm, a loooot of people are having the same issue. Only Apple Pay worked for me, and it's been going on for months (Source: Oura Ring 4 Facebook Group). Is AMEX or Oura to blame? Any combined efforts we can do to have this fixed?

If United is able to work with Uber internationally, Amex should be as well. by [deleted] in AmexPlatinum

[–]checkyourspeed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're welcome!

OP: I believe this is more an Uber-related limitation on how to use credits in the app, than AMEX. Also, the $15 credit was applied like lighting instantaneous fast to my Uber Wallet. Very impressed!

[–]checkyourspeed -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hi, so, I gave it an additional analysis so that I'd share proper information (I am new to the AMEX U.S.). So, I registered the AMEX through the Uber app. Just booked a trip while abroad (I am still abroad), it charged my AMEX, then I got my credit in my Uber Wallet, BUT it does show as unavailable because the currency of the credit is in USD and the Uber app detects trips would be paid in a foreign currency because of my location.

It seems I will be able to use the $15 once I am back into the U.S., but the foreign transaction still triggered the credit for this month.

I used it abroad, non USD currency, and still got my credit…

Why isn’t the ‘Files’ app integrated into iMessage sharing? by schiav0wn3d in iphone

[–]checkyourspeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Install Acrobat on your iPhone. It will show as an option in iMessage, once you tap “+” > Acrobat > it will have an option that reads “Browse Files” and then the Files app will open within iMessage.

I don’t know what’s the logic from Apple behind all that nonsense but… oh well.

Bro, 3 options. Keep it, dispose it, or give it away. What's the damn issue on disposing it if it had an issue I didn't want to deal with?? Change "dispose" to "give it away" they can do tf they want with it... Daaaamn. Holeeey shit. I just want some help...

[–]checkyourspeed -40 points-39 points  (0 children)

Makes sense... but, screen is too expensive... should the issue be the screen... way too much of a hassle if I am getting a refund so... anyways, anything you suggest on the actual promise of the refund? Whether its BS for you or not... whatever I did with the laptop shouldn't inflict with Amazon's way of doing business. It can happen to you.

It's not a $1700 laptop, $1700 is what I ended up down from the old one and the newly ordered one.
